: What do you do for a living?
BiXLL 09-06-2004, 07:47 PM Please, no porn star answers!
Teamsters Union Truck Driver. Currently holding a "road bid". I get a call around 5:30 each night, I am given what loads, going where are available, I pick what I want. Lately I have been doing Harrisburg and return to Pittsburgh. (430 miles). We also have "bed" runs, which you stay over and return the next night. When on bed run, you get put up in a good hotel (usually Quality or Comfort Inn)for the day, and head back to home terminal that night. Thing with the bed runs, you usually get around 500 or better miles, so it pays a little better.
firecracker 09-06-2004, 10:22 PM I work in corporate aircraft....mostly: Hawkers (600's thru 1000's), Beechcraft Premier I's, Beechjet 400's (now called Hawker 400XP's) and a few others.
Been in aviation since 1987.....corporate since 1997.
I'm now an inspector. Have my A&P, and am responsible for returning all of the acft back to service. I'm the one who say's it's airworthy (or not).
I'm a Operations Manager of a trucking company. I'm the guy that makes sure that BixLL is doing his job and not laying down on me. Making sure the freight gets where its suppose to when its suppose to. LOL hey Bill my place is getting crazy. Don't know how much longer I'll be here do you need a partner. We could run team back and forth to CA. HEHEH. J/k man don't think I'm cut out for the road. Biggest truck I want to drive is my Titan.

M4ck
USMCUglyAngel 09-08-2004, 01:55 PM Thanks for the welcome... No mods at all yet. I got my baby this week. I've been droolin over them since they were a concept vehicle. I'd love to find some info on brushguards, and if you guys know if theres any bed caps made for the titan yet.

jakohler 09-10-2004, 07:34 PM I definitely feel like the odd person out here. I'm the only chick (that I've seen so far, anyway), I appear to be the youngest, and probably the only one who will never take their truck hunting, fishing, or offroading. The most action my truck is going to see is Lowe's, Home Depot, and the landfill. I'm just a computer geek who bought a big truck because I could LOL

Those are the exact uses mine will get. I bought mine as in order to drive a truck year round in Pa., 4WD is a must, and I am a true fan of Nissan! I won't call myself a computer geek (wife would argue that) but I to bought it cause I liked it, and I could!
DeesT 09-13-2004, 11:25 PM State police officer in Florida here.

DeesT 09-13-2004, 11:40 PM Thanks for the welcome :) We just got our power back a few days ago. Frances didnt hit us directly, but the edge did alot of damage. There are still people I know without power. We are watching Ivan now, and hoping it will not hit.

Hey there Troop! Welcome to the club. Hope all is well and stay safe.
MrsM4ck 09-14-2004, 01:20 AM Well, I am recuperating from colon cancer, so I am a housewife at the moment. But I'm just glad to be alive :!: I'm lucky to have a hubby who takes care of me. On July 9th, I had major cancer surgery, and got my gall bladder, appendix and 4 lymph nodes removed at the same time. So it's been quite a year!! I'm not sure when I'll be able to work again. But M4ck is the best hubby in the world, and he has taken very good care of me. I do hope to be able to work again someday!!

BiXLL 09-15-2004, 09:21 AM Millwright. Or in other words, industrial repairman. Cutting, welding, troubleshooting of sawmill equipment, and keeping everything running on a production shift. 8)
If your good at your job, I have the utmost respect for you. I used to work in a mill that produced threaded pipe for oil and gas drilling. There must have been 50 different lathes, let alone all the other equipment in the place, and our 4 millwrights had the knowhow to keep it all running! I was always impressed with their VERY broad scope of mechanical ability.
just_chris 09-16-2004, 01:40 AM I work the night shift, just me and an electician to keep the whole plant running. We cover everything from deisel heavy equipment, large sawmill, dry kilns, bark fired boiler, and planer mill. This is a fairly big mill putting out about 350,000 board feet of 8' studs in a ten hour shift. Most of our wood goes to the home depot. I think I am good at my job, my downtime numbers are lower than any other shifts munbers, and the dayshift had five extra guys! I don't have to know how to fix everything, I just have to know how to convince the boss I do.8)
Hehe, I work the night shift as well. Thats why you see me post at night a lot. I work for a trucking company in SC. I am 3rd shift Operations Manager (otherwise known as the guy who does everything on the night shift) but yeh I have a bit of time on this shift that I really don't have anything to do so I get to come in here and keep things moving at night. If you notice though I'm on most of the day too. Thats due to me never actually sleeping LOL. Well I'm almost always close to a computer so if you guys ever need anything let me know.
M4ck
BiXLL 09-16-2004, 11:03 AM so if you guys ever need anything let me know.I need any cash you got laying around doing nothing!

jaysplaypen 04-07-2005, 01:04 AM I definitely feel like the odd person out here.
You are not the only chick here, There are quite a few of us. I don't hunt, or fish anymore. One to many snow camping trips, made me hate the cold. Now I drive up through the sierra mountains look at the snow as I pass, and go to the casino. I can even look out the window at the snow.
I got the truck, because I had a first year durango, before every other soccer mom, and was tired of being lumped into that group. Plus having the ability to carry my son with me and supplies in the bed works for me.
My husband and I have a HVAC and appliance service business here in the sacramento valley, and I do everything that no one else does. My husband does the service, I do everything else. And I do it from home, so I basically work 24 hours a day, dealing with work and then dealing with family. I love it but the truck is my escape route.
Glad to see I am not the only chick that likes cars. I have a GTP that my husband and I are rebuilding the tranny on right now. I am not a mechanic, and can not trouble shoot cars, but i can take anything apart figure it out and put it back together. I like to re-engineer things that I thingk the factory did wrong. Always having "big three" vehicles, there is always plenty to re-engineer.
I already feel welcome, thank you for being such a great bunch to help each other.

No problem. I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing right now. I am currently at CSS-11 getting ready to take over the COB job on The Asheville. I've been on the Stonewall Jackson SSBN-634, USS MG Vallejo SSBN-658, USS Santa Fe SSN-763, and the USS Bremerton SSN-698. What may you go to Alaska?
