I wrote a couple of days ago asking how to wire the DVD player's dome light to the factory dome light wiring harness. I got good response, but I was thinking; couldn't I just take the one and only DVD dome light wire and tie it into the front dome light? It seems that if I did that, when the front dome light came on, the DVD dome light would come on too. Will that work? Thanks

I also promised a picture of the installed DVD player when I was finished, and here one is. I used 1/2 inch plywood to make the bracket and the blank space filler/DVD mount. I then covered the blank space filler with leather, wired the player and mounted it. All in all pretty simple once I got a few ideas from this great forum.

Firecracker, I used 1/2" plywood for the entire thing. For the bracket above the plate that you see, I measured from the roof beams (front of headliner opening and back of opening) to the bottom of the headliner, it came out to be 1 1/2" so I just put two 3"x7"x1/2" plywood spacers in between the actual mounting platform (7"x18 1/2"x1/2"). That set the mounting platform right about flush with the headliner to give me the mount that I screwed the plate to.

By the way, I am thinking of cutting a rectangle out of the plate behind the DVD player to mount the factory radio/CD controls and mounting a universal dome light to the plate as well. I will then reconnect the factory wiring harness so I will still have the rear radio/CD functions and that stupid dome light I have been racking my brain about.

The rear controller is a good option to put in.
