: AFE GROUP BUY 20% OFF
whistler 09-24-2005, 07:40 PM Well I contacted www.sparkplugs.com and organized a group buy for AFE intake systems. They said any AFE intake can be included in the group buy.
They offer two AFE cold air intake kits for the Titan: Magnum Force Stage I CAI and the Magnum Force Stage II CAI.
Here is some info on the two kits:
Stage I: MSRP of $278.57 12HP 21FT/LBS of Torque. Sold for $195 at sparkplugs.
Stage II: MSRP of $421.43 17HP 27FT/LBS of Torque. Sold for $295 at sparkplugs.
Note: These are manufacturers dyno results. Check out RockyMtnTitan's great review and his dyno reults that are posted in the "dyno sticky thread". Also this is the regular price of the intakes without the discount.
The discount percentage depends on the number of participants. Heres how it unfolds in a direct quote from Natasha at SparkPlugs:
"If you get 1-4 commitments, we will give 10% Off the jobber price, 5-9 commitments - 15% Off jobber, and 10+ commitments - 20% Off jobber."
PM me if you are interested in going in on this group buy!!!!!
I also emailed her to see if we can work out free shipping if the group buy reaches 10+ participants.
Later All- Chris
Trogdor 09-24-2005, 07:45 PM I think I might be interested. So if we get 10, that would be $236 and if that is shipped, that would be AWESOME. Bueller? Bueller?
RockyMtnTitan 09-24-2005, 08:11 PM Good job setting up the GB, Whistler! That is an outstanding discount. I paid $299/shipped....and worth every penny to me. A very high quality kit. :D
whistler 09-24-2005, 08:12 PM That is correct, $236. I emailed her about the free shipping last night so I probably wont have an answer about that until monday. Either way killer deal, it would be stellar if we got free shipping if we reach the 10+ mark. If you want to go in on this PM me with your name so I can compile a list of all the buyers to send to her. Later- Chris
whistler 09-24-2005, 08:17 PM Thanks Rocky! I almost feel bad that its too late for you to take advantage of this. Maybe I can organize everyone to pitch in for a pack of beer for your review, since that is what made me decide to go with this intake. :fan:
RockyMtnTitan 09-24-2005, 08:52 PM Thanks Rocky! I almost feel bad that its too late for you to take advantage of this. Maybe I can organize everyone to pitch in for a pack of beer for your review, since that is what made me decide to go with this intake. :fan:
No problem....I'm glad I could help with the decision process for some of you...it's getting tougher and tougher to decide with so many options for intake/exhaust. Too bad we don't have those kind of choices for programmers yet!
Could anyone please post a picture of this intake kit, and some info on their thoughts about this specific intake. $200.00 some buck's plus, I'd like just a little more info please. NEED TO SATISFY WIFES QUESTIONS WHEN THERE ASKED, I know some of your guys are knowing what I'm talking about, the old barter system.
whistler 09-24-2005, 11:44 PM Karl here is RockyMtnTitan's detailed review......
http://www.clubtitan.org/postt7377.html
whistler 09-24-2005, 11:47 PM Just got an email back from Natasha.....No dice on the free shipping. If we get a lot of buyers (15+) Ill ask again. But still this is a great deal. Currently 9 buyers already. Go to their website to find out shipping charge for you. www.sparkplugs.com
Trogdor 09-25-2005, 08:29 AM Shipping looks like about 10 bucks, fwiw.
Whistler, how long are you going to keep the buy open before sending it to Natasha? I think it could easily get to 15 at this point so maybe she'd throw in shipping still - who knows!
JoshInTitan 09-25-2005, 10:57 AM Trog, only around $10 to Atlanta?
That's still under $250. If it's cheap like that, count me in.
Trogdor 09-25-2005, 11:09 AM Trog, only around $10 to Atlanta?
That's still under $250. If it's cheap like that, count me in.
Yeah - UPS ground it was 9 something.
JoshInTitan 09-25-2005, 01:28 PM Count me in if it's gonna be soon. I can't wait any longer!
whistler 09-25-2005, 05:03 PM JoshInTitan- PM me if you want in on this with your name and phone number and Ill add you to the "Buyers List". Barring a bunch of people backing out I should have the list sent to her tomorrow.
Trogdor- Yeah I asked her what the magic number would be and she said they just cant do free shipping because they are being getting hit with a surcharge due to gas prices. Yeah we cant get too greedy :nono: lol. But 10 is pretty soild for shipping I thought it was gonna be double that.
got_titan 09-25-2005, 05:22 PM whistler may we  to our new group buy leader  !!! lol...lol
whistler 09-25-2005, 05:47 PM Haha Thank You Thank You :headbanger: The "Buyers List" should be sent out by tomorrow. Wrap this sucker up nice and quick.
SO EVERYONE OUT THERE THINKING ABOUT IT, TOMORROW MOST LIKELY WILL BE THE LAST DAY TO JOIN THE GROUP BUY SO PM ME WITH YOUR NAME AND PHONE IF YOU WANT IN ON THIS.
Later, Chris
JoshInTitan 09-25-2005, 06:22 PM Whistler,
Sent ya a PM, but lately my messages just are not working.
If you do not receive it, please e-mail me at Joshonlaptop@gmail.com and I will be happy to send you the info that way.
Thanks
whistler 09-25-2005, 06:29 PM Hey I didnt get your PM and I just emailed you. Thanks, Chris
docopharm 09-25-2005, 11:00 PM Whew...just did catch this! I've been out of town...add me to the list. I sent you a PM as well. Thanks!
whistler 09-25-2005, 11:18 PM DOC- You are in my friend.
I just recieved an email from Natasha about how we can go about making the orders.
"We could handle this three ways: #1 each member could send his address information, part number and credit card information via email. #2 I could create an online discount code for AFE intake systems and you could each place your order on our website, using the discount code it would automatically give you your price break, I would then hold each order until we had at least 10 (or however many you are shooting for). Or #3, if your members would prefer to give their payment information over the phone, after you collect part number and shipping information, I can have our customer service department contact each member to finish up the order."
I think #2 would be the easiest
ALSO I AM PUTTING EVERYONE DOWN FOR THE STAGE II INTAKE. IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE STAGE II SEND ME A PM LETTING ME KNOW, I WILL REPLY TO ALL PM'S I GET TO BE SURE I PUT EVERYONE DOWN FOR THE RIGHT THING.
Cheers :informative: Chris

I think number 2 would work best as well...Maybe have like a 3 day time limit or something so we don't have to wait on somebody taking 2 weeks to pay before they can ship everybody elses.
got_titan 09-25-2005, 11:28 PM ok, it definately appears #2 will be the easiest ordering expierence!! :D

Yeah... whatever is the quickest!!!
got_titan 09-25-2005, 11:31 PM well all we need is 10 to do the buy so i would say a day limit so everyone will place the order or if she will start shipping once we give them 10 orders that may be better that way.
whistler 09-25-2005, 11:35 PM Yeah Im gonna go with......drum roll...... Number 2!!!!! I wont ask for a limit on it though, Im sure 10 will submit it ASAP because a lot of people PMed me saying they are in ONLY if it is quick, I guess everyone is wary of timeframes due to the old volant group buy extravaganza lol. It just seems that will be the most fair way to do it so guys can get in on it if they need to wait for a check on friday or something. Later-Chris
jojo4x4 09-25-2005, 11:56 PM Im interested, put me on the list!

whistler 09-26-2005, 01:20 AM WE ARE GOOD TO GO!!!!
1) Place your order through www.sparkplugs.com (item # 54-10312 for stage II)
2) Discount code is: titanclub
3) Put this in the comments section of the order (below credit card input): clubtitan.org group buy
Your discount will show up on the order. They order from AFE on mon and wed. If you order on monday by noon it will be shipped by friday, if you order by noon on wed it will ship by friday.
Here is the email from them to avoid any possible confusion:
"The discount code is “titanclub”, just ask all of your members to put “titantalk.com group buy” or “clubtitan.org group buy” in the comment line. Also, let them know we place our orders with AFE on Monday and Wednesday, so if they place their order before noon on Monday, their order will ship on Wednesday, and if they place the order before noon on Wednesday, the order will ship on Friday."
She asked me what kind of spark plugs our trucks come with...anybody know?
Also I dont remember who it was (sorry I must have accidently deleted the PM) but she said it was fine for you to use your fedex account for shipping. Her contact information is natasha@sparkplugs.com.
HELL YEAH GUYS WAY TO GO ON THE GROUP BUY!!! ORDER ASAP THE ORDERS WONT SHIP UNTIL 10+ MEMBERS PLACE THEIR ORDERS!!!!

Trogdor 09-26-2005, 01:31 PM WOW, I feel like a post-whore, but hey this is for everyone's benefit.
I emailed Natasha about the recharger kit - I wanted to add it to my already placed order. Here's her response:
Hi Justin,
Ya'll are welcome to add the recharger kit to your order, the discount code will give you 20% off all AFE products. I added a 90-50500 to your order.
Thank you,
Natasha
Sparkplugs.com
The one I got (#90-50500) is the non-aerosol version. There is another product out there that IS aerosol (just do a search of AFE for the Titan on sparkplugs.com). The cost: $10.37 if I remember correctly. And that means its only $8.29 after the 20% discount.
whistler 09-26-2005, 01:59 PM Nice job with the quick ordering! Trogdor good heads up on the recharge kit, ATTA BOY! Ok heres the bad news.....AFE only had 5 on hand so they have to make the others. I assume the first 5 should be shipped by wed. The other 15-20 will be shipped on friday. At least thats what I pulled from the email. Here it is:
"Just to keep you updated, AFE currently has 5 of these in stock, they are trying to come up with a hard date for when they'll have the remaining 15-20, I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from you."
"AFE says they can make the intake systems for us tomorrow. that probably means we can pick them up thursday, not tomorrow and they will ship on Friday."
Thanks again for making this happen guys- Chris
JoshInTitan 09-26-2005, 02:06 PM The lucky five.... lol

I confirmed with Natasha 14 about an hour ago or so, so my guess is that we're at 15+ at this point. Now if someone could just start a Gibson group buy!
whistler 09-26-2005, 03:45 PM sorry I already got exhaust lol.
Does anyone know how hard it would be to change out the spark plugs? Is it an easy access thing that I ( a novice) could perform on my own or would I need a mechanic to install new plugs? Natasha asked me if I would like to be a quinea pig for their Iridium spark plugs and I said sure as long as I dont need to take it to a mechanic to get it done?
Also what is better for a recharge kit the araesol spray or the gel?
Later all- Chris
Jackalope 09-26-2005, 04:22 PM Im in....
Just placed my order how many have been ordered?
I guess Ill have to wait another week cause Im not one of the first 5.

JoshInTitan 09-26-2005, 09:33 PM Just got an e-mail saying it is backordered and mine will ship on the 30th (Friday). That was an 8 am order!

same hear, 7:30 am here and same results
Trogdor 09-26-2005, 09:42 PM Yeah - they only had five in stock, so they're shipping out based on if you paid for priority shipping. At first, I was like WTF b/c I'm pretty sure I was top five (like GT, JiT and whistler), but then I thought about it and figured that if you paid for the fast shipping, you probably deserve to get it faster. As it is, it'll probably ship out on Friday and I bet I'll get it on the following Friday - just in time for the weekend, when I can install it :)
JoshInTitan 09-26-2005, 09:42 PM oh well... this is either gonna be a real long week or a super short week!

Yeah, I think I talked Slurppie into helping me out with the installation of the AFE and the PowerAid TBS... he just doesn't know it yet!!

Yeah Josh, we might just have to have a little mini-Atlanta Titan meet to install these bad boys. I've got to give Bry his original modded airbox anyway!
JoshInTitan 09-26-2005, 10:00 PM Yeah, sounds good to me- I just met him last night, turns out he lives about 45 seconds from me!
We better ask him first!!!! lol
Josh is in charge of the pizza and Justin is in charge of the beer.
JohnJohn8 09-26-2005, 11:45 PM What color is the lid? Isn't it metalic? On some of the sites that I have seen, it has a clear cover like this.
got_titan 09-26-2005, 11:50 PM the lid is actually a BRUSHED aluminum and its showed like that so you can see the filter
NKTITAN711 09-27-2005, 12:24 AM So what's the deal with the Iridium plugs? I have read a little bit about them, but don't know any performace news. Have you asked JetTech or Scr38 about them???
whistler 09-27-2005, 02:28 AM Here is what Natasha told me:
"Basically, Platinum is better then Copper and Iridium is better than Platinum. Iridium is 6 times harder and 8 times stronger than platinum, its melting point is 1200 degrees higher than platinum and it conducts electricity better. This allows for the creation of a fine wire center electrode which requires less voltage to jump the gap, which means fewer misfires, improved started, reduced fouling and should show a slight improvement in mileage and more horsepower." Sounds about right to me lol.
Im going to go ahead and swap them out and see if there is any notable difference. Cheers- Chris
hernan28 09-27-2005, 11:18 AM whistler,
I just ordered my AFE CAI option#2, message told be me it should ship within 8 business days.
Can't wait to get it, I currently have the K&N drop-in.
NKTITAN711 09-27-2005, 02:49 PM That should be a GREAT upgrade!!!
hernan28 09-27-2005, 02:55 PM yep, I sure hope it's a great upgrade.
zimjig 09-27-2005, 03:58 PM If the deal is still going on I'm in for the AFE CAI #2, whislter i sent you a PM
whistler 09-27-2005, 04:25 PM Zimjig- The deal should still be going on just follow my directions earlier in the thread.
1)order from www.sparkplugs.com
2)discount code: titanclub"
3)put the following in the comment box at the end of the order: clubtitan.org group buy.
Remember this is for all AFE products so Id pick up a recharge kit for a discount as well.
Cheers- Chris
NATIT 09-27-2005, 05:00 PM I may be in if we get the disc at 10 and maybe better at 15
whistler 09-27-2005, 05:14 PM There are already well over 10 that have ordered already, including myself. The discount is 20%, up until this the cheapest you could get an AFE was 295+shipping. This is the best deal you will find trust me.
JoshInTitan 09-27-2005, 07:33 PM Was there a place to put a discount code? I was just thinking, I don't remember one.
I remember the comment area where you verified your order, and I wrote "Club Titan group buy."
Just curious...
whistler 09-27-2005, 08:52 PM Yeah there was a place to put in a discount code before the spot where you put the comments. You still got the discount though right?
hernan28 09-27-2005, 08:54 PM The discount code "titanclub" goes in the discount coupon box.
JoshInTitan 09-27-2005, 09:02 PM My invoice says I paid $304.24.... I figured they took the discount later when they shipped it. Did the code take the discount before you verified the order?
Might need to give Natasha a call!
whistler 09-27-2005, 09:13 PM Josh call Natasha asap....I listed her phone number in an earlier post, if not email her at natasha@sparkplugs.com and she will get back to you real quick. When you put the discount code in the box it makes the price adjustment right then and there and even says AFE group buy discount. You need to contact her and get your discount. Later- Chris
hernan28 09-27-2005, 09:15 PM I have the K&N recharger kit, does anyone know if this could be used on the AFE CAI?
JoshInTitan 09-27-2005, 09:16 PM Yeah, I see how I messed up.
I went back to their website and added added in the code when I first clicked the item and it popped up as $239. I ended up paying the full $295 though when I ordered it yesterday morning.
Do you have a number I can call their rep at directly to straighten this out?
Thanks
JoshInTitan 09-27-2005, 09:22 PM Chris, can you repost her number or guide me to the previous post that has it?
I suck at the internets.
Thanks
Trogdor 09-27-2005, 09:34 PM I think you won't be charged until its shipped, so you're probably okay. Just get in touch with Natasha over phone or email.
Gumby 09-28-2005, 01:06 AM Thanks for setting up the group buy. I just placed an order. (sorry for the new post - I hit the wrong button)
whistler 09-28-2005, 01:38 AM Josh heres the number:

whistler 09-28-2005, 01:43 AM Im sick of the shift Newb rating....I think I should be promoted to a shift Enthusiast after this masterpiece.....lol
JoshInTitan 09-28-2005, 07:52 AM Thanks Chris,
I ended up e-mailing her last night, to which she responded that all Titan orders were double-checked and she added in the discount.
Pretty cool.
Now I am back to being excited, lol.
zimjig 09-28-2005, 12:31 PM Well I ordered mine last night, great job whistler, hell of a deal  :fan2:
whistler 09-28-2005, 01:44 PM Yeah I am overly impressed with her customer service. She even replied to all my emails over the weekend about the group buy. Ill always check with them first whenever I need anything from here on out.
bigpapa 09-29-2005, 02:45 AM Whistler,
Great job putting this deal together. :notworthy: I called in, because I had a spark plug question, and the lady on the phone was able to work out the discount with no problem, so people that aren't sure about ordering might want to call them 888-800-9629. I'm sure you will get 20 more posts, just on this topic. My only worry is that with so many people jumping into this buy, they might run short. When I called, they told me that the stage 2 kits were back ordered until Thursday. I waited a long time for the Volant non-event.
whistler 09-29-2005, 02:59 AM Yeah there have probably been around 25 people that ended up purchasing the intake. The backorder wasnt a problem Afe only had 5 on hand for them at the time of the group buy but by friday the other 20 should be shipped out to everyone. Thats a pretty quick turn around as Ive read many backorders lasting weeks and even months. I am 100% confident that the majority, if not all of the buyers will have their intakes by mid-to late next week at the latest. Ive seen that many, including my intake were shipped out today. The customer service from both sparkplugs.com and AFE has been nothing short of spectacular.
Jackalope 09-29-2005, 03:29 AM I have a tracking number Wednesday afternoon!
can't wait to get it and give it a test ... This is my first true mod (I don't think the wires and Retrax count )
:o

:o
OHH I'm a NUB now HAH
whistler 09-29-2005, 03:52 AM Congrats!haha. I am real happy with the concensus that there is a notable gain in both low end torque and power, my B&B has been craving for intake for months now.
ANOTHER GROUP BUY?!
I got an offer for a group buy from performancediesel on banks monster exhaust, I have no need for it but if the deal is good enough maybe I can organize it if there is a demand out there for that exhaust....

JoshInTitan 09-29-2005, 10:39 AM Congrats!haha. I am real happy with the concensus that there is a notable gain in both low end torque and power, my B&B has been craving for intake for months now.

jojo4x4 09-30-2005, 02:35 AM Jojo any tips on the install? Nice looking truck man, that is what I hope mine looks like someday.
The instructions are pretty self explanatory, just install it during the day & beat 1hr 12 min! Good Luck
Jackalope 09-30-2005, 02:55 AM Well that’s about right... 1 hour in the dark.
It’s installed and WOO HOO! I had to explain to my wife that I should get better gas mileage now :roflmao:
The instructions are OK however... When you get to taking off the old air box, just remove the one bolt on the side next to the cab and then pull up and out. There are 2 rubber grommet 'holders' that are holding it down.
Easy install and better test driving. :nahnah:
hernan28 09-30-2005, 10:55 AM kool!, mine is on the way should be here next week. I can't wait!!!
whistler 10-01-2005, 04:14 AM Heres an update on the group buy that Natasha asked me to post.
Sparkplugs.com will keep the "TitanClub" discount on AFE products active until October 21st. Please be advised that AFE has backordered the remaining orders for 54-10312 until October 13th, so any new orders that are placed between now and then will not be shipped until October 14th.
Later all
hernan28 10-04-2005, 10:01 AM Just go mine yesterday evening and will putting it on this w/e. The cover is huge.
whistler 10-04-2005, 03:17 PM It makes the engine scream when you floor it, wow is all I can say
JoshInTitan 10-04-2005, 09:21 PM Delivery rescheduled for October 5th.....
Very anxious to get home tomorrow!
bigpapa 10-05-2005, 02:07 AM Mine was supposed to ship last Friday, but it was sitting on my desk Monday morning. Very impressive! It only took about an hour to install, but I only made a short test drive last night, to make sure everything was working OK. My wife drove it to work and I asked her what she thought. She agrees that the truck is somewhat louder and that it pulls more at higher rpms. Then she mentions that she let our boss drive it back to the office from a meeting. He is a racing instructor for a BMW club and drives everything hard. She wasn't too worried, until he drifted the onramp to the freeway. He thinks it would do fine on a road course. :flamer: It looks like I will have to make some runs with the G-Tech this weekend and get some numbers.
docopharm 10-06-2005, 12:44 PM WhooHoo! Got 'er done today..in the rain no less. I went ahead and reset the ECU while I was at it. All I can say is
No whistle, no vibration. This is my first intake and I can't believe how much louder it is. It's a good thing though, only roars when you're on it and quiet at cruising speed. All in all, I'm pleased. Now about that exhaust...............
hernan28 10-08-2005, 12:15 AM yep, installed the AFE Stage II this evening and it seems to have made my truck louder and when I jump on it (half throttle) it has a raspy sound and takes off. I think I might have scared my neighbor a little test driving in the sub-division. He pretty much jump out of the truck when I pulled in the driveway, and I said to him "what's up man, gotta little scared" and he said no (shaking is head left to right) I fine. LOL....
The_Punisher 10-08-2005, 05:16 PM I just joined this site today and I am already reaping the benifits. I ordered my AFE II and I was able to still get the discount. Great stuff here!

Good deal...welcome to CT! Whoohoo another NC member, and one that's near where I duck hunt :)
Trogdor 10-08-2005, 08:15 PM Got 'er in today with Slurppie helping out. Pictures to come in a bit ...
As for initial impressions, definitely good - the power seems to be there over the airbox mod alone. The quality of the system seems good, also.
I do have some faint whistling that I gotta get rid of and I also got the vibration at approx 3k rpms. I think this vibration is coming from the bottom of the AFE box against the metal below it, but that's just a hunch. need to put some padding or weather stripping down there, I think.
As for the whistling, I'm thinking maybe if I could seal off the little holes in the metal box, I could get rid of it. It's only around 1800 to 2000 rpms...
JoshInTitan 10-08-2005, 08:44 PM Following Trogdor, I got mine installed, much thanks to Slurrpie. In about 20 minutes we were cruising down the highway enjoying the performance.
With his experience installing Trogdor's from a few hours earlier, we cut a piece of cardboard from the aFe box and stuck it in between the box and the metal, and no vibration.
Good system.
Trogdor 10-08-2005, 09:17 PM Aight here are some pics that compare the AFE Stage II to the Volant to the stock filter ... notice the difference in size between the AFE and the Volant.
Trogdor 10-08-2005, 09:18 PM oops ... didn't get all three files up ... here are the other two
My filter looks wimpy compared to your's now. I have to admit, after installing two AFE's today...I really like the design/product. Now we just need to swap intakes to see if we can tell a difference :)
JoshInTitan 10-08-2005, 09:47 PM Volant, ha!
bigpapa 10-12-2005, 08:41 PM The rubber bushings from the OEM airbox keep mine clear of the fender, no noises. I would look at the rubber connectors for the whistle. They are a real loose fit and wanted to move around while I was tightening them up. I can't imagine the little openings around the lid are making the whistle, the whole top of the box is an inch and a half from the fender. The air will go in there, not the holes.
RockyMtnTitan 10-14-2005, 12:22 AM If you guys are getting the 2800 rpm vibration..it's probably the lid. Try running it w/o the lid and see if it goes away. I used several evenly spaced bumper/protector dots (adhesive-backed) on the lid which took care of the problem. Just make sure you use the thinnest ones you can find or lid holes will not line up. You can also use some 3/8" weather stripping around the edge of the lid.
BroncoAZ 10-14-2005, 03:06 AM That volant filter looks pretty small compared to the AFE. Anybody have a pic comparing it to the dry filter from AEM?
Thanks,
Mitch

bubbad3 10-17-2005, 02:51 AM Man am I glad I bought my Titan this week, and not next! I just got on to read these posts, and will place my order tomorrow! Thanks everyone!
Anyone know if it's good/bad to install this on a truck with 153 miles on it? I already know I won't be able to redline the engine... yet!
SlightlyStoopid 10-17-2005, 04:26 PM ordered mine today and got the discount should be here thursday

great job setting this thing up guys.... :goodjob:
bubbad3 10-18-2005, 02:43 AM I also ordered mine today for the same price, but not the same results. I was told by someboday named May, that it's backordered for a while, and they will call me when they think they will receive one to be shipped out! Figures.
whome 10-18-2005, 11:12 AM Sweet I just ordered mine 5 minutes ago. Thanks for setting this up. Hopefully it will compliment my custom exhaust when I get it put on.
Jackalope 10-18-2005, 11:22 AM Wondering how many were sold?!
I love the sound and power increase but not the MPG.
SlightlyStoopid 10-18-2005, 07:18 PM Wondering how many were sold?!

are people getting worse MPG after the install???

"well sir, were looking for your part right now, if not then ur going to have to wait until we get them off back order"
this is after they tell me 2 days ago that it will be here thursday, hope they can find it
bubbad3 10-19-2005, 11:44 AM Yeah, they said they were hoping to get the backorder sometime this week, but no call from them yet... Maybe this is some kinda initiation for us "newbies" !!!!
SlightlyStoopid 10-19-2005, 12:30 PM ... Maybe this is some kinda initiation for us "newbies" !!!!
haha i hope so
SlightlyStoopid 10-19-2005, 03:21 PM just got off the phone with them again and they said that it will be @ my house on monday
stoked
TENTITAN 10-19-2005, 03:24 PM Yall should be excited i just got mine on this weekend and damn it sounds and feels good you might want to put some weather stripping on the lid edges to reduce vibration from the metal on metal contact. There is a post about it in the performance thread and my install pics. Good luck getting it soon it took mine two weeks.
whistler 10-20-2005, 03:09 AM No MPG doesnt get worse from the intake....its from people punching it constantly to hear the engine roar. You wont be dissapointed it is awesome, Im 100% satisfied. Regarding the backorder, when I first started this they only had 5 on hand and the other 20-25 had to be ordered. It only took 2 days so I wouldnt worry about the backorder. Cheers- Chris
TENTITAN 10-20-2005, 09:26 AM That is oh tooooooooooooo true that is all i have done since the install i love that sound!!!
whome 10-20-2005, 03:20 PM Natasha actually called me yesterday regarding my order. Something about my address wasn't checking out but she told me mine should ship no later than Friday. I thought it was nice of her to call instead of doing it over e-mail.
whistler 10-20-2005, 04:22 PM yeah they have the best customer service I have ever had
SlightlyStoopid 10-20-2005, 05:58 PM since the truck i just got rid of was kenne bell blown with 18lbs of boost, its hard to get excited about noise from an intake, but im looking forward to the tq increase....
BroncoAZ 10-20-2005, 08:40 PM I ordered mine today. I'm glad the GB went on as long as it did!
Mitch
MCW82 10-21-2005, 12:50 AM Got mine today. I haven't opened the box yet, but will install over the weekend. Kudos to the group buy and Sparkplugs.com. Now I just have to worry about how to feed the family until pay day. 8O
Titanator 10-21-2005, 06:19 AM Ordered mine this morning. What a great deal, except my wife is gonna kill me :machinegunner:
bubbad3 10-21-2005, 12:04 PM Not to complain, but.....
No emails, no phone calls, called yesterday and waited on hold for TOO long without an answer, still don't know when i'm getting mine.
Like I said before, must be a "newbie" thing.
whistler 10-21-2005, 04:49 PM If you contact natasha@sparkplugs.com she will take care of you. Best customer service I have ever had
RockyMtnTitan 10-21-2005, 06:11 PM They seem to be rather backed up today. I just called them see if my order for a prefilter and oil charger kit could be intercepted, since the p/n for the prefilter was wrong on AFE's site. I got an answer from someone who said she was handling all the "overflow" calls to sparkplugs.com. She was able to change my order, and will try to have the package intercepted...although may be too late.
Whistler found out that AFE has the wrong p/n's for the prefilter that fits the air filter in the Stage I/II kits. AFE will be correcting the info on their site, but dunno when. So, anyone wanting the prefilter, should use p/n#28-10053 (Black), not #28-10093. Don't know the #'s for the other colors availabe (Gold, Red, Blue...I think).
whistler 10-21-2005, 06:48 PM Well I just had to share a little tidbit about AFE customer service. I received the wrong pre-filter and tried to get it on the filter to no avail. In the process I dinged up my filter and the wire mesh got scrunched together damaging the filter. I was p*ssed at myself for being a dumbass for trying to force it on. I called Michael at AFE (same guy I contacted to find out it was in fact the wrong filter) technical service and told him what happend to the filter during my attempt to get the pre-filter on. I was worried about messing up the filtration quality and he flat out offered to replace the filter for free! Top Notch! So anyone having problems with AFE, fear not, talk to Michael and he will take care of you. CHEERS, Chris
bubbad3 10-21-2005, 11:13 PM Ok, not to complain or argue but....
Natasha was the first person I spoke with. She just transferred me to someone else for my order. That person had to keep asking other people what to do, because she knew nothing. She didn't know how to do the 20% off, and couldn't even give me a total price charged to me! Then I was told someone would call me in a few days with the info, and today, someone finally called to tell me I'll receive my intake next week. I still have no idea what my total is.
And yes, this is the last time I will complain about this.
BroncoAZ 10-22-2005, 12:26 AM I ordered mine on the web Thursday afternoon. I received an e-mail that my order shipped Friday and the expected delivery is Tuesday. Customer service for the web order seems great. I'm glad I didn't add a prefilter onto my order...
Mitch
SlightlyStoopid 10-22-2005, 08:15 PM got mine today but im missing a part one of the black hosing parts
WAYYYYYY PISSED RIGHT NOW anyone else have this prob???
whistler 10-22-2005, 08:52 PM Call Michael at AFE technical service, you will have to send him a copy of your receipt/sparkplugs email and he will send you out one. I think they are having some QC issues, the intake is awesome though.
SlightlyStoopid 10-22-2005, 11:21 PM how do i go about getting in touch with him??
whistler 10-22-2005, 11:29 PM Call AFE using the number on the box the filter came in. If you call it will give you a new area code to enter. Heres the correct number: (951) 279-4050. When you call youll get an automated service. Select the option of something along the lines of talk to someone by department (I think its #1). Then select something along the of technical service or tech engineering or something (I think option 4). You should get transfered to Michael then.
SlightlyStoopid 10-22-2005, 11:52 PM thank you
Marshall
TENTITAN 10-24-2005, 12:48 PM got mine today but im missing a part one of the black hosing parts
WAYYYYYY PISSED RIGHT NOW anyone else have this prob???
Yea i did not get a coupler to hook the hose to the engine but no big deal went to autozone spent five dollars and it fit great i did not feel like waiting for CS to come through because i have had bad experiences in the past plus i know they are being bombarded with calls right now so it works it fits it sounds good no harm no foul.
TENTITAN 10-24-2005, 12:49 PM And what is this prefilter yall are talking about and do you have any pics for me i might want one. What do they do?
Titanator 10-24-2005, 12:51 PM I am curious about the prefilte, too! Pics would be great.
whistler 10-24-2005, 06:40 PM The pre-filter is just a cover that goes over the filter for even better filtration. They have pics on AFEs website. I dont have a pic with it on because I got the wrong one.
SlightlyStoopid 10-25-2005, 07:44 PM i got the new rubber boot and its the same size as the the one i already had.... can i still do the install or do i need the larger boot to make it work
bubbad3 10-25-2005, 08:09 PM Hey guess what? I finally received my intake today, and it's missing the coupler part! What a shock!
I called AFE and of course had to leave a message, why would I think they would actually answer?
Not gonna even TRY and call sparkplugs, since I know they won't be of any assistance.
SlightlyStoopid 10-25-2005, 10:06 PM well got mine in and done with the ECU reset,
took me about 30 min.
u can def feel the difference
9 out of 10
it seems like the stock box is a lot better than the aFe since its completley closed off....
but overall its nice and an easy install

bubbad3 10-26-2005, 06:02 PM You know, I read that before, and was prepared to be missing parts. Last night I went to 2 different Autozones, 2 Kragens, Pep Boys, then to Lowe's and Home Depot. I was desparate to find something!
I ALMOST went for the duct tape!
Guess I'll just wait it out....
Thanks for the tip though!
RockyMtnTitan 10-26-2005, 07:33 PM You know, I read that before, and was prepared to be missing parts. Last night I went to 2 different Autozones, 2 Kragens, Pep Boys, then to Lowe's and Home Depot. I was desparate to find something!

Try a "no-hub" connector...used in drain/waste/vent plumbing, can get at any hardware store. Probably a 3" would do it, as the actual i.d. is slightly larger. Might get ya by for now, anyway.
If that don't work out....duct tape never lets you down.
RockyMtnTitan 10-26-2005, 07:46 PM Also, anyone experiencing the vibration from the lid....try this trick that a couple guys have used over at TT to eliminate it. It works, as I had a terrible vibration before that could only be helped by installing either weather stripping or stick-on rubber protectors on the lid....and even then, I would occasionally get a little vibration.
Install lid with all three screws very loose. Starting with the front screw, then center screw and finally the rear screw, tighten one at a time as you apply pressure kind of in a clockwise fashion....if that makes any sense. Hard to explain, but easy to do! Also, I replaced the pita allen screws with some 1/4-20 thumb screws and washers to make it easier to adjust and/or remove the lid.
bubbad3 10-26-2005, 09:42 PM Funny you should mention that. I actually bought the 3" piece. But the outer wall was too thick, and didn't seat all the way against the throttle body. I tried it on the other part, but it bumped against the MAF. I bought a different one, that was skinnier, but had a lip in the middle inside, so i turned it inside out, cut the lip, and put it on. But when I clamped it, it squeezed tight and ripped. Headed to some import mod place now, to snag a piece off another intake!
Titanator 10-27-2005, 01:43 AM group discount code (titanclub) still working at www.sparkpugs.com as of 10/26! Just ordered my prefilter. Received my intake, but have not installed yet. Gonna wait for the prefilter to get here first.
BroncoAZ 10-27-2005, 02:28 AM I received mine on time yesterday. It was missing the coupler, no biggie, the 3" rubber coupler at autosone was $5. The install was easy and straight forward. I like the build quality of the kit, but I did notice some plastic dust residue floating around the inside. I blew it out with the compressor before install.
I definately have the buzzing rattle from 2500 RPM up to about 3200 RPM. I'm planning on lining the bottom of the lid with dynamat, figuring it might be overkill, but oh well. I also noticed a slight whistle on the highway when there isn't much load on the engine. It goes away on accelerarion or deceleration.
Performance wise, I did the ECU reset after the install, but I haven't mastered idle air volume reset yet. It seems like there may be slightly less power from 1500-2200 RPM, but I could be wrong. Above 2500 RPM there is definately more power. I mashed on the gas at 20 mph today (while cutting someone off) and it brike the tires loose on the downshift back into first gear.
The sound of the intake from 2500 to about 4500 RPM at WOT exceeds the sound of the stock exhaust. It's a cool cound and is only there at WOT, but it is very noticable.
I haven't ridden in any other Titan's, so it's hard to compare this intake to others. I should have a good idea how it perform MPG wise by mid november. I'll be making a trip from Tucson to Las Vegas for the SEMA show, and from there to Los Angeles for a week, then back home. The following weekend I'll be making a trip to San Diego, but I might take the Honda for that one.
Mitch
Whats the chance they would still honor the price for those of us who did'nt get in on it the first time, or start another group of ten or more, for those of us who want the AFE real bad?
whistler 11-20-2005, 07:12 AM Colt contacted Natasha and they are keeping the discount running through DEC 31ST. Just thought Id let the masses know. Later All- Chris
Knox_Titan 11-21-2005, 09:48 PM I did the same thing, and here is her reply.
Hi Nathan,
We've had a lot of people ask about the group buy even after it was
complete, so I talked the big bosses into letting me offer the same
discount until December 31st. It is on AFE, we don't sell AEM. The part
number for the stage 2 kit is 54-10312, normally $295, with 20% discount,
its around $239 I think. The filter is lifetime, and will never need to
be changed, just cleaned. The coupon code will work on all AFE products
including the recharger kits(cleaning kits) and prefilters (used to keep
excessive dust out if you live in a dusty area). The coupon code is
"titanclub"
Thanks,
Natasha
I am thinking about trying to get one of the dryflow filters to put on the NISMO intake. Anyone know if the sizes match up?
yellowv 12-13-2005, 12:45 AM Just ordered my AFE at the 20% discount. Thanks Whistler. Seems like all my parts are coming from your group buys :)
