I've been searching the web looking for a good 7" lcd tablet style portable dvd player, and found a couple models I'm interested in. They have mp3 capability as well, with an on-screen menu. The bottom of the unit has a tripod screw hole, so I'm looking for a bracket that attaches there connected to a base I can mount in the top dash well that normally houses the gps for those who have that. I've found a multitude of mounting systems, but most are console, visor & headrest mounts. If anyone knows of a system that will acommodate me, I am all ears. Keep your feelers out guys.

You might look into getting a quick release camera setup. Any camera store will have them. they consist of a base with a locking lever then you just screw on a little "key" thing to the bottom of the in this case monitor. With just a flip of the lever it will release the monitor. You can also adjust the angle etc. the one I used on my skydiving helmet had a base about the size of a chew can. I bet you could attach it with heavy duty 3m tape which if you are careful would let you remove the base from the dash without any perment damage. If you don't know what I'm referring to or can't find one let me know and I'll find a link to one for you.
Here is an alternative player you might want to consider.

Check out "RAM MOUNTS" They seem to have a mount for everything and I suspect it will be less expensive than cameral mounts. I've used them for several applications including my GPS and my video camera on my Motorcycle.
Hope you find a product that works for you.

Thanks for the info. and awesome setup of your own there! You seem to be very electronic savvy. I'm somewhat of a dabbler myself. Anyway, I have a mount like that for my tripod, and I never thought about using that. DOLT! Since it came with an extra base, maybe I can find what you're talking about and utilize that.
Thanks for the link, but I'm only looking to spend around $200-$250, I can forgo the nav & pc, in favor of dvd, mp3 & jpeg. I've got an iPaq with custom mount, plus a Mobile centrino 1.7 notebook which i could optionally run from the console with av out to the 7".(just need that slick keypad like you have). I might wind up getting the Coby TF-DVD7705, just not sure if it has the screw or slide mounting system. It does have an easle leg that folds out the back for tabletop use. Still researchin' ya know?
