: Seat covers = a sin?
SaltyDog 10-10-2005, 03:33 PM I have a 4 door SE with leather seats. I love the leather and they are very comfortable. Here is my dilemma. I own a resturant and sometimes after a 16 hour day in the kitchen I am greasy and covered in food. In the past my other trucks that had leather seat would start to discolor a little bit in the seat and lower back area. I can start to see where my Titan seats may start to discolor now. should I install Wet Oklee covers? Are they comfortable? Does the comfort compare to the leather? Are they easy to clean? Are they hot in the summer? What should I do?
A lot of questions but all equally important.
twizted 10-10-2005, 03:48 PM 16 hours in the kitchen? I would have that checked and make sure that is legal in this country :D
Beyond that, why not just bring a couple of clean towels with you to work and just put them on the seat before you sit on it?
Another option is to just bring a change of clothes with you.
SaltyDog 10-10-2005, 03:54 PM Done both and they are a pain.in the ... to deal with all of the time. Just one more thing to do.
It should be illegal but that is what it takes to keep my business extremely successful. If you think that is bad I worked for 3 months in a row at 112 hours a week.

I admire you very much for your hard work. On the cover, I have Nissan factory seat covers. They work great. They are the best thing/mod I got for my truck. I have 2 kids and they jump everywhere in my truck. The factory seat covers are cheaper than Wet Okole.
Here is an old tread that I evaluated the OEM seat cover.

Hope this help.
As long as you don't get the fuzzy ones with the cow pattern, you're all right....
RockyMtnTitan 10-10-2005, 06:30 PM I don't know much about leather, but can't you apply a good leather protectant to keep them from discoloring, and allowing easy clean-up? I've used Lexol with good results on leather couches, motorcycle jackets, etc. I do understand that you want to protect those nice seats....but it would seem a shame to have to cover them up!
I've been in the HVAC trade for 23 yrs, now, but prior to that I was a broiler cook for about 5 yrs, so...I know where you're coming from!
Good luck...
NKTITAN711 10-10-2005, 09:01 PM I personally hate leather. It's cold in winter, and hot in the summer. That's my opinion. The Wet O's are the BEST on the market, and if you can afford them...they will not let you down. I am saving for them now. Order them through yournissanparts.com brian just started carrying them. I have an '05 and the OEM ones did NOT fit. Good luck!
littlebuddha19 10-10-2005, 09:06 PM Maybe you could find something from here.

SaltyDog 10-10-2005, 09:44 PM OK little Buddha. I really appreciate the info but your picture is really starting to freak me out.
Darth_Titan 10-10-2005, 11:09 PM Yeah, I'll vouch for SaltyDog. Those long hours in the kitchen are rough on the truck's interior. Also, the door trim next to the window on my truck (where I rest my arm) tends to get dirty as well. I'm looking into seat covers also, but they are pretty pricey, and the OEM covers just don't look like they fit well enough to make me happy.
twizted 10-12-2005, 12:23 AM Buy a set of cloth seats for $250 (I saw them posted somewhere for that) and use them for a while :D
Darth_Titan 10-12-2005, 01:05 AM I've actually got cloth seats, and I worry about them more than I would leather. Bar-B-Q is greasy!
twizted 10-12-2005, 01:14 AM Yes, but my point was for $250 you could throw them out later! :D
SaltyDog 10-12-2005, 10:01 AM How did you know I have a BBQ joint? I do have to correct you on one thing. Our BBQ isn't greasy. Here in South Carolina we do it right. After 60 years of business and 3million customers along with dozens of Celebs feel the same way. Isn't life grand.
Darth_Titan 10-12-2005, 11:27 AM I meant that MY restaurant is a Bar-B-Q place. So you're a pork-slinger too, huh?
Yeah, I know the finished product may not be greasy, but you know as well as I do that there's a lot of opportunity to get messy in the transition from raw shoulder to real Bar-B-Q!
Jeez. . . a South Carolinian thinks he can lecture someone from Memphis, TN on the right way to do Bar-B-Q? Give me a break!
JUST KIDDING! Let's not turn this thread into a flame war. (how appropriate) One thing I've learned in 16 years in this business is that when it comes to Bar-B-Q, everyone thinks their way is best. . . and they're right!
jerseyparts 10-12-2005, 12:03 PM Just a few Points:
Nissan only makes REAR seat covers for the 05 Titan, they do make front and rear for the 04, and they fit extremely well.
I am now a Dealer for Wet Okole and I think they make a great product, a custom fitted seat cover will last a long time, and the color choice is tops!
pm or email me for more info on the wet okole.
The leather will wear out, it is actually a thin leather that most manufactures use and it does not hold up very well to everday use, it does look nice though!!
SaltyDog 10-12-2005, 01:05 PM you guys have good Que too. MY manager I hired is from Mephis and his family had a BBQ place so I know your style. Check my site out. www.bessingersbbq.com
Rossi 10-12-2005, 01:14 PM some good looking grub!
jerseyparts 10-12-2005, 02:45 PM Man, how come you did not pop up until AFTER the meet, I would have enjoyed stopping into your place with the family!
SaltyDog 10-12-2005, 02:55 PM Yea, I joined two days before the meet. Late notice but I sure hope there will be another soon here near me.
I will settle this how bout you both make a big o mess of BBQ and seal it up really nice and send it to me. I will taste test it and let you all know the results.

SaltyDog 10-12-2005, 08:13 PM Well that depends. Depends on what you want to part with. I love to barter.
I have a condo up in Boone/Blowing Rock, NC and have seen a couple of BBQ places in Charlotte on the way to Boone. Which is your favorite?
Darth_Titan 10-12-2005, 10:59 PM Well SaltyDog, I was very impressed by your website and concede that my place just isn't in the same league as yours. We're just a small neighborhood joint that my family has been running about 16 years. (I started working there when I was 14!) While expansion has been steady since we got the place, frankly I wouldn't know what to do if we got TOO successful. It's so hard to find good help these days. . .
Good to know about your restaurant. Next time I'm out that way I need to check out your place.
Hey Salty I just realised same name on restaurant as the Maurices BBQ owner where I used to love to go down in Columbia. Havent been in a while. Used to go there on the way back from Charleston when we go on vacations. I assume its the same family? Next time in Charleston we will definately look you up.

SaltyDog 10-12-2005, 11:56 PM Hey Daniel you have an extremely good pint. The more successuful you are the harder it is to find descent employees to fill those valuable positions.I am expanding by puttung our sauces in grocery stores throughout the southeast and selling our BBQ and such online. I may regret taking the business to this level. I already have 50 employees working there and serve thousand plus people a week and it can be difficult to have 50 sets of eyes. Sometimes smaller is better so you can just can focus on what you love.
MC
Yea ole' Maurice is my uncle. I can't seem to escape his controversal shadow. Stop in whenever you are in Charleston and say hello. Would love to see your truck in person.
You know what would be cool. Once a month we hold a car show at my restuarant. We have an open field on our propeerty where people come from all over to show there Model T's, choppers, street rods, muscle cars, modern muscle cars, street racers and trucks. It would be awesome to have a group of Titans there. We usually have 100-150 entries. Maybe this could be the next meet at my restuarant.
NKTITAN711 10-13-2005, 12:05 AM I'm THERE!!! I would love to have a Titan meet and eat the CRAP outta your BBQ! Say when!
mcginkleschmidt 10-13-2005, 12:18 AM I will settle this how bout you both make a big o mess of BBQ and seal it up really nice and send it to me. I will taste test it and let you all know the results.

You don't really need to taste it. Barbeque and sex are quite similar in one regard in that some is better than others but none of it is bad.
TENTITAN 10-13-2005, 10:01 AM That is probably the best desciption of BBQ and SEX i think i have ever heard in my life Props to you.
