first check ground on amp, then reduce gain on amp, see if that does not help, if not reverse the way you put the ground loop isolator on, if that does not work, are you using a line out converter, some have gains on them you may need tyo adjust.

The AMP ground is directly connected to the POSITIVE(ecu) side of the battery. I reduced gain, no difference. I've had them connected every way possible. No line converter.

Amp ground needs to go somewhere else....like a seat bolt or seatbelt attachment point.

The amp ground wire should terminate at the closest spot possible to the amp (seat bracket) drill your own hole, use a gold-plated ring terminal soldered to the wire, and a star washer, and crank it down. If you're grounding it near the engine, you will most likely get noise. Did you run speaker level imputs to the amp? Does the amp have ground loop circuitry and infrasonic filtering. If not, you need an adapter such as the NV-7 from www.davidnavone.com
It has adjustable imput voltage (leave it at max. 9.7v) then run RCA cables to the low level imput of the amp. Make sure to use a meter to set the max. unclipped power level voltage. You should flatten the EQ settings of the HU, then play a CD track with the appropriate frequency for the amp being tuned at 0 db. Turn the volume up 3/4 full and meter the speaker outputs (while the speaker wires are disconnected from the amp) by adjusting the imput sensitivity until the correct target voltage is acheived. Don't ever adjust it above that voltage, but you can always adjust it down to balance the system.

Alright, you're both saying the same thing here so needless to say, I'm a little pissed!

I paid allot of cash to a Professional Stereo Install company to get this done and before I go strangle one of them I want to be sure

The Large Red Cable from the AMP with the LARGE FUSE SHOULD NOT go out into the engine and CONNECT TO TO THE POSITIVE TERMINAL OF THE BATTERY???? I'm not even sure how to get the thing out of there and back into the cab to connect it to the underside of the seat(where the AMP is). BUT isn't it getting it's power from the battery connection????

thanks.

That is the power wire not a ground going to your battery.
If you had it installed, take it back and tell them your problem.
Whatever you do don't touch it anymore.........

Where is th Ground Wire then. I can't take it back to these monkeys. They claim, 1, it's not their fault(yeah right!) and 2, they want it for another whole day and I can't miss another 8 hours of work for their error so I've got to resolve this.

Even when the radio is off it's there at least with some music going it drowns it out somewhat.

Ground should be a big BLACK wire. Also check your RCA cables, make sure it's not running along side the RED power cable. Make sure they don't use some cheap a$$ RCA cable either.

you said in an earlier post that ur amp ground is going to the (+) side of the battery, im sure u didnt mean that, but where does the ground wire actually go?

No you didn't.

The AMP ground is directly connected to the POSITIVE(ecu) side of the battery.

Everything is connected right, yet I still get the whine....

baseballfanz
11-05-2005, 07:52 PM
Is it a constant whine or does it go up and down with acceleration? Are you using shielded RCA cables? Make sure they don't run the RCA cable right next to the power cable.

ALLLL the wiring is run in one big grouping along the stepside on the drivers side.

The noise does increas the harder you press the gas.

If you paid a shop to put it in, it is their responisbilty to correct the problem, i used to own a small shop, and you can not let a car leave with that type of noise. There are times that you can not get all noise out, but it can be reduced.

That might be your problem right there, with ALL the wires together, my bet is the RCA cables is picking up signals from the power cable. See if they can route the RCA a difference route. If they're not willing to do anything else for you, maybe just go in there and re-run the cable yourself.

Yeah I used to work for a shop many moons ago, if anything it's a personal thing. I took pride in doing a good job and if it don't come out right I have a hard time sleeping at night.

Yeah, in a perfect world that would be true

Anyone one know what could be causing it????

I think like you baseballfanz, it's my name on the job and I'd want it right if I did it, they wouldn't even return my calls! BUT when the BBB sent them my compaint, all of sudden the remembered my number!! 8O

I'm thinking the same thing regarding all the cables on top of each other AND... the power cable is laying under the amp as well before it goes out into the door sill and to the engine.

It's not long enough to rerun....how about some kind of insulater for the power cable??? If so, anyone know where to get one?

tried about eveything suggested whith no luck. I do see that the ground is in the sill area too, along with the other wiring. It's only about 8 inches from the AMP so length shouldn't be the issue.

Have you tried moving the grounding point to a difference location? Beside that I would take a good look at the line out converter that is use.

blkbelt65

TRYING THAT TONIGHT. I just noticed it's like 2.5 ft. long wrapping around other wires on amp and then wrapping around other wires in door sill and then the connected in the sill area and THEY BARELY scrapped the paint to allow for a proper connection. Could that be causing whine noise???

IF IN VIRGINIA DO NOT USE: !SOUTHERN ELECTRONICS!
