: Max Tire size on 18" wheels
firecracker 01-10-2005, 03:08 PM Hey all,
I'm wanting to put some tires on my factory 18" wheels, I don't have a lift or anything except mudflaps, what's the largest tires I can put on with those wheels?
I'm looking at these in 305/60R-18:
http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines/off_road/opmt.html
I'm sure I've found them somewhere in that size......
Now thats a beefy looking tire. That would look really good on the Titan.

SMOKEDYA2 01-10-2005, 05:29 PM ive been lookin in to this and what ive found is when you turn your wheels the clearence problem is at the plastic in the front fender well . with a little trimming of the fender well a 34" tire might just fit, 34's arent the easest tire size to find. 35's might fit with a leveling kit and some trimming of the wheel wells. in my pics there is only a half inch clearence in front and back, with trimming it you can get about inch and a quarter clearence. if those knobs on side wall stick out that far they might have a big problem rubbin
just out of curiosity, what are they gettin for that tire? and if you get let me know if they fit , cause those are bad a$$ lookin
firecracker 01-10-2005, 09:23 PM Smokedya2, man, I'm gonna have to do some more research. If I remember right, they were something like $175-220. Don't quote me, though. I'll have to find the link and get back with ya.
A buddy of mine has these (this size & type) on his 03 Chevy 2500HD 4X4. It looks really good. He has NO complaints on the highway either and has about 25000 miles on them with maybe 2/3 tread left.
SMOKEDYA2 01-10-2005, 10:57 PM firecracker, will your buddies rims and tires fit up to your truck? if not you should take some height and tread width measurements for me :D
JetTech 01-10-2005, 11:02 PM I hate to admit this but when I saw the first photo you posted, I thought your front tire was just about bald.....It took me a few minutes to figure out it was pointing straight ahead.  Man, I'm getting as bad as Bixll.... I mean look at it quick, it looks like the tire is pointing out or turned all the way to the left.....ooooo, maybe I need some sleep...
SMOKEDYA2 01-10-2005, 11:10 PM   yeah it is kind of a close shot, i got it turned slightly to the right. the side walls are so dirty they look like tread, i need to wash it thats half the problem, not your eyes
Dale you saw the exact same thing I saw the first glance. I was like man he had better get some new tires quick.
LOL

SMOKEDYA2 01-10-2005, 11:23 PM if its the 2500 i believe they are the same bolt pattern on the rims.....mabye he will let you throw one on your truck to test the clearence 8)

firecracker 01-11-2005, 08:22 AM firecracker, will your buddies rims and tires fit up to your truck?
Nope, they are 8-bolt.
firecracker 01-11-2005, 12:49 PM Well, I was mistaken...Here's the tires he has:
http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines/lightTruck_suv/opat.html
That's what I'm looking at in a 285/60R18
I've found them for $262.99 and Nitto brand (TerraGrappler A/T) for $164
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?cs=285&pc=40205&rd=18&ar=60
(by the way Nitto was bought out by Toyo.)
SMOKEDYA2 01-11-2005, 09:59 PM those are some nice tires also, but those open country MT's you first showed just look beefy. they are probably in the 250-300 price range so those terra grapplers would probably be more cost efficient(thats what my bubget could afford :D ). well let me know how they fit and ride. are you gettin just tires or rims also? did you decide to stick with the stock size?
firecracker 01-12-2005, 10:26 PM Well, gonna stick with the stock wheels (if possible). $$$$ Here's a shot of those tires on my buddy's truck. Still look pretty beefy. His are 325-60-18's. I'm looking at the 305's.
SMOKEDYA2 01-12-2005, 11:18 PM tires look great on the truck, now the truck on the other hand......  LOL
firecracker 01-13-2005, 10:38 AM tires look great on the truck, now the truck on the other hand......  LOL
LOL I know, if he'd only waited, he'd probably gotten the Titan

Hey Rirecracker thats a nice tire your friend has, I had the 285x70r17 on my previous F150 a completely love it, it was great everywhere specially on wet highways and sand, now for my Titan I want to get the same tire but in a bigger size, exactly the one you mentioned 325x60r18 on some aftermarket 18" wheels, I currently have the oem 17" off road wheels and tires...
In Toyos web page, it says thet the 325x60r18 is 14.86" wide which I belive its very very wide, can you please take the actual measurements of your friends tire thread width and the overall tire width?
If the tire is as wide as Toyo says it is, then I might have a hard time getting that wheel and tire combo on a 4x4 Off-Road Titan with just a PRG 2" front leveling kit.
What do you guys think?
THX in advance...
