: Subs
SkillzNSA 11-16-2005, 08:14 PM I just installed today 2 10" visoniks with an amp. It came as a package for $150 so i thought id try it out. Ive never tried out subs in a car before, But i cant crank it and outside the car, i cant hear it as loud as i can crank it, Should two quality ten inches be making more noice? If so should i go with MTX or Pioneer?
littlebuddha19 11-16-2005, 08:30 PM Check your connections. You probably need to mess with your amp settings.
titan-ic 11-16-2005, 08:56 PM most common mistake, crossed polarity. polarity, polarity, polarity. is that really a word? sounds strange. hmpf.oh well.
SkillzNSA 11-16-2005, 09:06 PM i wired it all myself from amps to speakers and subs and they are clearly all marked with a + and - but ill take a look at it :) thanks

That would be my guess too. Oh and yeah, you're right. Polarity (http://www.wordreference.com/definition/polarity) :)
SkillzNSA 11-17-2005, 12:33 AM Dont know what i was smoking when i typed this, but i meant to say.........I crank it up all the way and it sounds like crap, in my opinion of what ive heard with home audio, two ten inches should really make some noise.
tjmutlow 11-17-2005, 06:39 AM it depends on alot of things, especially if the vox is not correct for the subs, airspace is very important.

I 2nd that, been a problem for me before also!
SkillzNSA 11-17-2005, 05:30 PM I just bought two 10" a box and amp from the deal at best buy for $250. In comparison to my visonik crap........wow.....is all i have to say........TIME TO BUILD TEH BOX. Does anyone have actual dimensions for the underseat crew cab box, i already have the wood and i have a feeling im going to be doing the measurements myself :(

Did these (http://www.clubtitan.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=9115&highlight=box+plans) plans not work out for you?
SkillzNSA 11-17-2005, 07:03 PM jw if anyone had their own dimensions, however those that i did i have to remeasure just to make sure.....I was surprised to find that a 4x8 mdf was only 20.99 at lowes :) I guess ill have to stick to my plans. Ill take the measurements of it all and draw it up real quick for you guys on cad with a isometric view and everything. THEN....newbies like me.....will be able to do this :)
puckerth 11-17-2005, 07:52 PM I was just wondering. I really want to build something too but am leaning towards putting it under the driver's seat.
Rossi 11-17-2005, 07:56 PM I tell you...if you only paid $150 for it....not sure it's going to give you much noise.
What is the OHM's of the 10's and what is teh OHM's and peak power of the amp? If you want basssssss...you need a low OHM amp and speaker...not 8.....2-4 would be fine.
Did you adjust the amp??? Is it a 4- channel with cross-overs or a 2 - channel mono amp?
