Anyone have a CB in their truck and where did you put it. I am thinking about either a Cobra or a Uniden. Any experience with these?

cobra and uniden are really the same thing, just differant look, if you open up a cobra CB, the circut board inside is actually made by uniden lol

Hmmm...that's interesting. But they both have a PA switch, so I guess if I buy a horn for it and wire it to the CB I could have a PA coming outta my hood?

And would I need to buy a seperate CB antenna?

Yes, you need a seperate antenna. Other members have installed them, so they should answer soon. If not, go here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/594790/1. There should be pics of his ride with a CB mounted on the passenger side of the center console.

The only problem with mounting them this way is the transmit part of those types of antennae is in the base and would be obstructed by the bed. They guy I posted a link about I believe had his antenna mounted on the tool box.

also with those type of antenna's when u have 2 they need to be a minimun of 4 feet apart.

and yes you can put a PA speaker under the hood. dont get more than a 5 watt speaker, or it wont be loud enough to hear it lol

id put the speaker behind the grille, the ant.'s are really up to u, there are so many types, you'd have tp ick one, and go from there, personally, id get a wilson 1000 mag mount, and put it on the roof, thats the best transmit point on any vehicle.

like i said there are just too many types and too many places to mount em, pick your antenna, then come back and ask the mounting question lol

Under cover siren works real well too!!!(they get wired right into the horn ring) plus you can get one with the electric air horn...

Really cool!!! Just wait till a blue hair cuts ya off and you get to buzz em with the air horn!!! (big{huge}smile)

Just make sure to take the selcetor knob off so you don't accidentally turn on the siren.

i got a cobra cb radio from my brother and i juat have to get the speaker so i can start ''communicating'' my feelings to other fellow drivers on the road !! lol
