Hello all. I just talked my wife into getting a 2006 Crew Cab Titan vs a Tundra! I am excited and this is the first big truck I have owned. Anyway, the truck will be 80-90% to and from work for my wife but the point of us getting a gass guzzler is to go have fun with our dogs and friends in Mexico and Northern AZ. I want to give it a nice mean look and I am thinking of leveling he front out with some sort of lift, 2" I think and putting bigger tires and rims. I know 0 about this stuff and need a little help and some pics. I will probably get this done at the dealership when I buy for the warranty protection. Anythoughts? I would like ot see some pics simular to this set up. Would I be better gettin 3" in the front and 1" in the back? Sorry, I am such a noob. Am I stupid to get the 4x4 vs the 4x2 if I am not going off road that much? I just dont want to regret it. The point of the purchase is to go out doors a bit more and quit being city folk.
Thanks again and happy to be a new member of the Titan crew.

If you like to play off road and you may do it...and it's in your budget...you'll regret not getting a 4x4...I do!
We have a great guy that makes leveling kits for the Titan!! The PRG leveling kit you can get from the man..I think owner..himself from this site...PrerunnerGreg. Do a search on the PRG leveling kit...or better yet look in the do it yourself section I think there is a good how to from JetTech in there.
Welcome to the club@!
edit: Yeah....Yeah...Do you need a custom grille??? DunderDan has em!

Welcome Jedi.
Nothing like your first truck!!! Enjoy!!!
I'll second what Rossi said and say, go 4x4 if there is any chance you will go offroad, which it sounds like there is. You will be able to tackle more terrain. You will probably get stuck a few times with your newfound feeling of invincibility. (If you are like I was)
I only use mine maybe 5 percent of the time. I don't go offroad as a hobby, but in the northern climate it makes a big difference in snow. Also just being able to cut into offroad spots without spinning. Backing up a heavy trailer. If you have it, you'll use it.
My brother's first new truck was 4x2. I tried to convince him otherwise but he wanted to save $$$. The first year he had it he wished it was 4x4. It was cause he got stuck in the snow and had to walk a mile or 2. He ended up going 4x4 2 years later.
GoodLuck and Conrats, whatever you choose!!!!!

OK, I think I heard what I needed to. 4x4 it is. I always thought I would go 4x4 I was just having second thoughts based on some peoples opinions. Thanks for the confidence. On the same note. I am still curious to know if anyone has pics of a leveled (without lift) 4x4 titan with some nice off road / highway tires on it. I am not sure if I want a lift or not and this will help decide. I also dont mine doing the leveling kit myself but shoudl I have the dealership do this so the warranty stays in place? I am worried about doing something on the lift/suspension that may void warranty. Thoughts? I am trying to plan my attack so I can make teh purchase, have teh upgrades done and deliver it Christmas day for my wife. :)

WAIT!!! whatever you do, dont get ANYTHING at the dealership!
just buy your truck and leave with a smile on your face - you will literally pay almost double for anything aftermarket that you would get at the dealership.
having a dealership lift your truck or add wheels and tires is a very bad idea if you care about saving money.
you could get probably the EXACT same thing you would get at a dealership at a nice 4x4/truck shop around town for a fraction of the price.
i have seen dealerships have the nerve to try and charge $590 for window tint, FREAKIN WINDOW TINT!!!!
even some of the most expensive shops around will tint your truck all the way around for 200 bucks or less. $700 for grille gaurds, $2200 for 3" lifts, etc....the list goes on.
what i recommend - just pop open your local yellow pages and look for what you think appears to be a nice, reputable off-road or 4x4 shop around town, stop in ,check em out, and ask the guys at the store for their advice/opinions - you are bound to save money and turn your truck into the ride it should be.
and as far as the 4x4 vs 4x2 goes - if you know for a fact that you will never need it, then yes, it really is pretty much unneeded money. but honestly, its nice to have and like they say, you never know!
im in houston in the middle of the 'burbs, i havent needed it yet and i have plenty of buds with big 4x4 f150's and a pretty good amount of them said theyve never even used it, so all to his own i guess
good luck and post pics brotha!
