OK everyone I know I am beating a dead horse, but here it goes. I would like to get everyone's opinion of a stereo setup. I do not want to change the HU, but I am interested in swapping speakers for better sound. I have picked out some Infinity:

6X9 Infinity 692.7i
» 2-way 6"x9" speakers
» 2-ohm impedance
» Plus One woven-glass-fiber woofer cone with hi-roll rubber surround
» rotating UniPivot M.M.D. dome tweeter
» computer-optimized outboard crossover with tweeter level control
» power range: 2-110 watts RMS (330 watts peak power)
» frequency response: 35-25,000 Hz
» sensitivity: 95 dB
» top-mount depth: 3-1/8"

6.5 Infinity 62.7i
» 2-way 6-1/2" speakers
» 2-ohm impedance
» Plus One woven-glass-fiber woofer cone with hi-roll rubber surround
» rotating UniPivot M.M.D. dome tweeter
» computer-optimized outboard crossover with tweeter level control
» power range: 2-75 watts RMS (225 watts peak power)
» frequency response: 45-25,000 Hz
» sensitivity: 95 dB
» top-mount depth: 2"

Tweets Infinity 10.7t
» 1" M.M.D. dome tweeters
» 2-ohm impedance
» flush- and surface-mount hardware included
» Starfish™ bracket for mounting in factory tweeter locations
» 3,500 Hz passive in-line crossovers
» power handling: 2-50 watts RMS (150 watts peak power)
» frequency response: 3,500-25,000 Hz
» sensitivity: 94 dB
» flush-mount depth: 7/8"

I will eventually put in an amp and subs, but not now. It is a NON Rockford system

Thanks

I think the 6.5's are the speakers that I tried in the rear doors. With the stock
HU, much less bass. I was told by a tech advisor those speakers need much
more POWER than is supplied by most stock HU's.

Dirt-Not sure if those are the Kappa models, but I've had Kappa 6X9's,Kappa 6.5's,and Kappa 5x7's.

Review. In my F150 I had 4 of the Kappa 5X7's with a small Punch amp.It absolutely rocked :!: I loved it.I did need bass but it had real real good mid bass to get by with so I never added a sub. This was a standard cab.

Next I got a GMC.I put the 6.5's in the door, and 6X9's behind the seat(standard cab).Kappa's also.It didn't come anywhere close to my F150.It sounded so horrible I wound up adding subs, changing amps, and configurations just to get it to sound decent.I was really dissapointed. The 6.5's had no bass. The 6X9's were just muddy and crummy sounding.I was not happy at all.

Now with the Titan(kingcab).I have a Diamond Audio amp,Diamond 6.5 components, tweets, and added a sub. It's okay but nothing great.I still liked my F150 better. So I just ordered an Infinity 7541A amp,and some of the Infinity Kappa 5X7's.I'm going to move the Diamond's to the rear, and put the 5X7's in the doors.I'm going to use the Infinity Amp to push all the doors speaks (Ft & R),and bridge the Diamond amp on to the dual voice coil HE2 sub.I'll see how it sounds, and maybe add another He2 if the lows don't keep up.I expect it to sound much better because of the 5X7's.They just put out good tight midbass in my view and give it a fuller sound.

Hope that helps.

Where are you putting 5x7, the rear takes 6.5 and needs, also if your want tighter response, then you do not want an oval speaker, you want a round speaker.

shift, your going to have to put a 4 channel amp on thos, it will not sound as good, and the bass is not going to be there, door speakers are not meant to provide bass, more mids and highs. Factory systems are decieving and you will always have a better sound and different with aftermarket speakers set up properly. Not enough power from factory to run these speakers, and i am not sure that radio can handle 2ohm load, and then add tweets to them.

Where are you putting 5x7

I'm putting them in the doors.I am taking my expensive 6.5 Diamond Audio Components and putting them in the rear doors. If you throw just a hint of bass at the 6.5's they sound like absolute ^&*!!.When I mean bass I'm talking like in the 600hz to 1000khz area.I am not trying to play rap master QJ thru them.Just give them a fuller sound versus the nothing but ear piercing highs they produce.

Yes the Kappas need an amp and I don't really think they will sound much better then stock without one.He did say he would be adding one in the future. My opinion having owned ALL of the speakers that he listed is that the 5X7's sound the best, and it wasn't even close. Why?No idea but I'm replacing my $300 6.5 Component speakers and putting $65 Infinity Kappa 5X7 speakers there and expect it to sound better.

BTW I'm not starting a typing match with you tjmutlow.I am just explaining why and what I'm doing with my stereo based off of all the crap I've tried. :)
