oil pres gauge

This afternoon i noticed my oil pres gauge way over to the high side i shut the truck off and restarted it and did the same thing could this be a oils pres sending unit?????

even when the engine is shut off and the key is in the on possition it is still showing all the way toward high

What year? They went from a real time gauge to an idiot gauge around 2007. Pinned on hi would tell me (instrument technician) bad sender or ground faulted wiring. I would go after the sender first.

the truck is a 04 where would i find the sending unit ???

The oil pressure sending unit is near the oil filter. You can get a replacement at many auto parts stores. See attachment.
