I got the driver's side fixed at about 74,000k under the 8year/80k federal emissions warranty by the federal goverment. they gave me hell about that too. but, the law is the law.

i guess i could live with the exaust leak on the passenger side, as long as there is no code going off.

worst case is what? cold air getting into the combustion chamber and bending the valves?

lol

Not sure what the worst case is. The performance loss and increased fuel consumption was more than enough to justify the fix for me.

Ya that won't fly here in good ol'South Louisiana. Our emissions requirements are a joke. Only place that requires emission test with regular state inspection is the the New Orleans area.

That is a federal law. Your truck"s emission components have a 8 year/80K mile warranty, no mater which state you live in.

It is an older law that was enacted in 1995 (I think). But I do not know if it is still in effect or if it has been superseded by a new law.

FYI it is only in effect if your state follows the Federal emissions standards and your state requires an annual emissions check. Which my state does not except in the Greater Baton Rouge and Greater New Orleans area. Rest of state basically does not check you emissions beyond making sure you have a muffler. Now I am speaking on what is practiced in my area, not what is written in law. I used to know the rules 20+ years ago when I did state vehicle inspections.

And I should preference this by stating that I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. So I could be wrong.
