Are high mileage oils recommended? If so, when? Currently have 125,00 KM/ 75,000 miles. Is engine de-carbonization recommended? These are the things mechanics/lube shops are recommending.
Oil changes are of more value than the type of oil....if the oil spec meets what's in your manual, it's good enough. De-carbonizing is a bit of a sham. People like to see a lot of smoke coming out of their exhaust when they do things like pour Seafoam or Marvel Mystery Oil into the fuel system. They've been led to believe some magic is happening. Lube shops make a lot money selling them to their customers. Note that not one single manufacturer of gas engine vehicles has a maintenance recommendation for fuel system cleaning to d-carbonize. There are so many additives in your gasoline to manage these things, you don't need any magic juice unless you just feel like making someone's quota and spending $100 you didn't have to.
At 75K miles, I would be surprised if you had significant carbon deposits, unless you are doing mostly city driving, stop and go. Best defense against minor carbon deposit formation is to use good gas. Take a look at the top-tier listing of retailers at: http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers/. BMW is now recommending Shell V-Power, among those Top-Tier listed. If you are in an area that has Texaco or Chevron, they are great alternatives. Their Techron additive is very good at removing carbon deposits.
As was posted earlier, at oil change, just use a premium oil that meets the Titan's requirements.
