We just purchased a 06 Titan with 22" rims on it. I'm a little worried it will hurt the performance and ability to haul stuff in the bed. Any thoughts?
If the rotating mass increases and/or the overall diameter, yes it will decrease.
However it isn't a big hit. I tow 6,000-9,000lbs with 35" MTs, and it doesn't feel much different than my 34" ATs. I probably lost a mpg compared to the stock 33" tires.
Make sure the rims and the tires are rated for what you do with your truck. I remember when RAM came out with the 20' factory rim option, and no RAM buyer noticed that getting it meant lowering the payload capacity to 900lbs.
Right now it has 305/40-22's on it. It looks great but I don't think it will be very useful when we need it. My wife wants to get rock for our flower beds and it comes in a half ton I believe. I'm just a little scared of putting that much weight on those rims and tires.
those are a bit thin for hauling weight, especially if they are P rated.
maybe find a good used set of 18`s for when you work the truck.
I don`t see where you mention the wheel or tire type.
but 305/40/22 is around 31.6-32 I don`t see where that is to heavy for the Titan. a lot less sidewall than the 18`s or 20`s alloy factory wheels.
IMHO, they may look good, but man that must be a harsh riding tire size. you don`t have a lot of flex with those.
