First off, we picked up the engine for 1800 bucks with around 40k on it. The old motor was locked up tight. And yes the VIN ID Did match, which is what threw us off in the first place. But whatever, we went with it. Didnt feel like buying a computer (very complicated to find one that will work) and wiring harness (Called nissan and they wanted like over 500 bucks!)
This is the Final thread to organize the build
New MOTOR (Cam position sensor moved to front of head
Old MOTOR, (Cam Position sensor is on the back of head)
Now the new issue, we finally got the engine pulled and you guessed it, wiring was looking a little different. Got to surfing the web and it seems that 07+ has VVT and VCT Solenoids in the engine. This is where it got interesting.
We ended up soldering and extending the cam position sensor wire to the front of the engine
Then we began tossing it in
This is where the thread takes a turn for the better
All of my theorys from before were correct, the engine does not have to have the VCT Solenoids plugged in, the engine is idling dead silent and smooth, and the best part. NO SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT!!!
We do have a bullydog GT on this truck, and we kept clearing out errors working out the kinks with the throttle body learning process until it finally all started working right.
We ended up deciding to keep the "Cam PHasers" as i call them on my ford. Because the oil passages were part of the timing cover and this engine already had new chains on it, so why bother.
The issue we had with the no oil pressure was the seal on the bottom of the oil pump, someone had installed it in the pickup tube instead of where it was supposed to, so oil was never reaching the top of the engine, but we made a special pipe and shot oil through the holes to ensure everything was good to go.
We had to lift the engine up and pull the pan and then reseal it all back up
As of last night we put it all back together
You can watch the video i am going to post shortly for you to tell me how you think it runs. Many long nights and its finally completed! Even bent most of the dents out of the bed!
We did tweak on the bumper and bedside a little more after this photo. And put the original tail lights back in
All in all, to all of those people who said it was not possible. You do not know what you are talking about. She runs plenty strong and has no issues! Good day!
