I dont even like titantalk anyways, dunno if you noticed my post count there is less than half of it is here.. This is my real home they can keep me banned there all i did was stand up for myself and others that have been heckled nonstop by michael
Tomnymods,
Some of us, including Michael, were trying to save you money and heartache. If you want to go forth with that type of turbo, have at it. I've only been dabbling in rearmount kits from 2005 like I said previously. Just because someone who finally threw one on their truck and made 475rwhp on 10# of boost doesn't mean they know what they're doing (They still haven't asnwered my questions about their timing, power/boost enrich or volumetic efficiency tables). Hell, they blew the engine up for GOD sake. I can't even imagine how much a 5.6 DOHC would be to build(IF you even have a block left))
You can take advice from people who are 'just starting out' in the rearmount areas or have never built the kit (much less the research to make it better) or take advice from someone who's had a blower or turbo(rear mount and front mount) on their vehicle since 2001. (BTW, I've had a blower or turbo on my TA for the last 70k+ miles and it was the stock engine until late 2008 when I decided to go forged then put 10-14# of boost through it. Don't take my word for, feel free to ask Silverstar, he is a member here.)

Yeah, she's ready
what ur saying is fine go read the comments on titantalk and you can see the type of stuff i dont wanna put up with.. it's under 500+lbs tq thread..
either way like i said before im not worried bout it, everyone i talk to said thier is no reason a 5.6L motor cant spool a 67 trim turbo efficiently.. and this is coming from 5.3L guys who even use a 72 trim turbonetics journal bearing turbo remote mount.. i'll try it if it doesnt work out so be it i spend nother 400 bucks and swap out to a 1.06 A/R not a big deal and least of my worries right now..

I dont know anything about Turbo's, but I did see you a while pack on PT.net asking some questions. Some of those guys know their turbos!! LOL, 11's in a Daily Driver pickup truck is crazy. I know some of those guys know their stuff. I just want your on and see the track times and vids

Toomny....did you go to some of these members asking for help? It sounds like a couple cant stand it that you are trying this without their help. I personally think you have always had everything under control in the timeline of your truck build. Why would anyone assume, or offer strong opinions that werent asked for is beyond me. I am going to sit back and enjoy the show. I love the posted progress, the extensive parts list, and the fact that you are doing it your way. Keep up the good work.

Tomnymds never asked for my help. I just advised him that his turbo is not going to have a low rpm spool for power under the curve while not running out of turbo. I've only did everything I could w/o actually being there to put things together for him to help him out. I don't want to see someone get frustrated on why their turbo kit doesn't work or spend way to much money in an area that they shouldn't.
Tomnymds, just FYI. On a 5.7 liter LS1 with a rearmount, I couldn't spool a 70mm turbo with a .80 turbine a/r and long tube headers/off road ypipe until 3rd gear and then it would only produce 4# on a 7# spring and then in 4th gear I would get 5#. The turbo would only spool above 4krpms. That's why I'm letting you know, if the thing even spools, it will be above 4500rpms, if not closer to 5000rpms and its not going to be very fun to drive. The stock manifolds are not going to be your most restricted point on your setup, the turbo will(should) be.
Either way, I hope you prove me wrong, but I've just tried to help you out.

Yeah, she's ready
Just wondering some more variables of your setup where it wouldnt spool..
Did you have a ball bearing turbo?
What was the dia. of the primaries on your long tubes?
What was your collector size on the longtubes?
What dia piping to the turbo from the manifolds?
Lastly how far back was the turbo?
Was your volumetric efficiency around 93% like the VK56 engine with cams at 6k?
Without knowing all of your setup its like comparing apples to oranges..

chris,,, after all this spending and hard working and time wasting, you better never sell this truck and you must find a sponsor after your first run. good luck and keep it coming,,,, oh my LSX engine will cost 12k, what do you think does it worth it?
thanx

damn if spending 12 k for a LS motor make sure it's the 427 that the vettes use.. I've also heard good rumors that the LSX motors are very mod friendly as well

the below is their setup for me what do you think?
Upgraded turbo LSX 7.0L short block $7350
Turbo Long block w/L92 heads $11350
Upgrades include Dragonslayer crankshaft, Lunati Hbeam rods, Custom Turbo Pistons, ARP studs, Steel top turbo Piston rings.
Note: i told them that i will have a STS twin turbo rated between 800 to 1000HP.
