Lastly how far back was the turbo?
Was your volumetric efficiency around 93% like the VK56 engine with cams at 6k?

Without knowing all of your setup its like comparing apples to oranges..
1 No, normal journal. BB only spools 200-300rpms faster. If you think otherwise, you're fooling yourself. STS kit on a 2002 SS Camaro from T76 to a BB 76 only added the above spool time. He also runs 10.1 @ 135 in the vegas heat and is driven around town all the time.
2 primaries were 1 5/8" Normal long tubes on a 5.7 liter AND they were coated.
3. Collector was around 3"
4. 2.75"-ish
5. replaced the muffler
6. If you think the VE is 93% you're kidding yourself.

I also had a smaller turbo with a .80 a/r on the ehaust side. I already told you all the stuff we did to the exhaust system pre turbo after putting it on and then it worked fine afterwards. If you don't want to listen, that's not my problem. You forget that your turbo is going to be the biggest restriction in your exhaust.

Not apples to oranges only the vehicles are, turbo's are turbo's are turbo's and if you don't set it up right, it will not run correctly. Period. Now do yourself a favor and read up on the subject.

I'm done trying to help, good luck with your project and hope it works for you.

I'm going to go ahead and buy me the .85 a/r exhaust housing and swap the 1.19 for a 1.06 and save it for later when i switch to a front mount after the motor is built.

I bought the dual ball bearing cause i heard it spools harder and realibity is much greater, i dont feel like having to tear it apart after a yr and replacing parts hopefully can get 2-3 yrs out of it before having to replace anything in the turbo

Our headers are nearly identical but my primaries are only 2.25" and my piping will stay 2.5" up to the turbo, and probably a 3.5" to 4" out the back

With a .85 ar This will spool fully by 3800 rpms right? I guess this is my goal, cause on the street when i floor it it almost instantly goes to 4k when the converter locks up ( i know you really can't go by the dummy gauge in the truck) but i imagine it's within 200 rpms or so

DarkblueTA, he obviously has enough faith in what people in message boards and salesmen have to say. Let him play the hand he was dealt. He's made it clear that he has it covered and doesn't need our help. I'm actually surprised that he is actually asking more and more questions of you.

BTW, I'm thinking I'll be heading your way in September for a weekend. So count on the first few drinks being on me. If things go well on my tuning project, I may end up down that way for several months.

Toomny, I wish you the best on your project. I look forward to your results regardless of the outcome.

The VK56 is 340 cu in and is over 100% vol efficiency when cammed. I can guarantee that Chris' engine puts out well over 400hp at the crank. I am also doing a single turbo setup based on the same turbo, GT4094R with
the 1.19 or 1.09 a/r. Garrett told me that with a 5.3L engine it will spool plenty fast enough. Mine will be front mount of course, in my 1986 Cutlass. I don't think the a/r will be that prominent an issue with him myself. If a little old 4.8L can spool a PT88 standard journal turbo then a slightly bigger BB 94mm turbo will not be that much of an issue for a bigger engine with better efficiency.

OK the Shipment has Arrived :P

Here I mainly finished buying the rest of the Russell anodized 6an, 8an, and 10an fuel fittings, the 10AN stainless steel braided hose, and the MSD RPM pickup wire needed for the Aeromotive fuel controller i bought a few weeks ago..

All that is needed for the fuel system now is my 750cc RC engineering fuel injectors, and the custom made fuel rails

Here's the pics:

Might not look like much but this was over $400.00 of fuel accesories, pushing my total spent so far already over $6,000 now

In the center is the 8AN 180 degree fitting that'll be used for each fuel rail to feed fuel to the front of both of the fuel rails ( I bought two of these )

This was the most expensive part I bought in this session the 20 ft. of Russell 10AN stainless steel braided hose

Lastly is the MSD RPM pickup wire that'll be used to feed rpm signal to the Aeromotive fuel controller
