I currently own a '97 Altima and am looking to get a new Titan in November. I'm going to get a KC SE 4x4. My only problem is I don't know if I should wait and get an '05.

Right now the dealers are giving -$2000 from Nissan and then they are giving about -$2000 from themselves. This is with no bargining on my side.

Should I wait and get a new '05

Or save a little with th '04

Thanks for the help, great Forum

This boils down to money in my opinion. There is no way I would pass up the deals they are giving on the 04's now. I don't see where there are enough differences between the 04's and 05's to not take advantage of the rebates and dealer extras that are being thrown in right now. If you ask me get an 04 but thats just my opinion. Hey if you got plenty of money though then don't worry about it get what you want. This is not my case and I wish I had waited until now to get these good deals. Instead of jumping into one back 5 months ago. But then again if I had waited I would never have started this site and be having all the fun meeting you great people.

That savings amount you quoted sounds like much more than a "little" amount to me. I am sure you could list many things you could do with the $4000 savings difference, not to mention other mods for the Titan if you chose an '04 (bed cover, performance mods, wheels, tires, etc.). Look at the changes to the '05 as compared to the '04. Each style (XE, SE, LE) has some very minor changes, and then the option packages bring about a few other differences. All-in-all, the powertrain stays the same and that is the heart and soul of the Titan. Try to find a later build date '04 to avoid some of the earlier QC/TSB issues. I guess the decision would amount to weighing the '04 style/package, depreciation, and savings versus the '05 style/package, depreciation, and higher sale price.

I'll probably go with the '04. Pickings are getting slim here in Orlando, mostly loaded LE's in the 30's.

What is the earliest build date to look for. I would imagine to avoid anything built in '03 but when did the second wave get assembled?

Thanks for all of the insight.

Nissan engineers from Japan paid a visit to the Canton plant in June to address some QC issues (paint scratches, loose dash screws, etc.) so maybe look for a July or later build. Now I am not saying all Titans with early build dates have QC problems. Mine was built in April and I have only had to deal with the brake TSB (the brakes work fine now). I also have never had any rattles from the dash. As with any new vehicle, look over the paint job and pay attention to funny noises inside the cab when you test drive it. Good luck to you and keep us posted if you take the plunge.
