i did my first oil change i put mobil 1 10w-30 and i put 6 1/2 quarts, i run the engine for 10 minutes in my garage and i turned it off, i let it rest for another 10 minutes and i checked the oil level it was in the midle of H and L i wonder if i have to run the engine longer than 10 minutes in parking position to make sure i put enough oil...
let me know what you think

6.5 was perfect for my Titan when I changed the oil a few weeks ago. Checked the level on Friday and it is still near the full mark. I still have the used oil in my garage (keep forgetting to take it for recycling). If I'm feeling into the moment I'll go out there and measure how much I drained out.

that's one thing that is very important is to let it drain completely. Hot is preferable and then let it drip for a while. Just to explain a little further on the hot drain method, it helps to rid the engine of all the contaminates because they are in suspension when the oil is hot.

That's exactly what I did. Ran the engine until it was fully warmed up just prior to draining it while parked on a flat surface. And I let it drain for at least 1/2 hour becaus the oil coming out was black and I didn't want any of that crud staying in the engine. Now you're really making me want to get off my butt and go out there and measure that used oil. Well, I have to do some tweaking on my daughter's wheel chair first then I'll get out there.

guys i added 1/2 quarter and now i have 7 quartes in the engine, my question is, i never pay attention to the oil gauge before, today after adding the oil i notice that the nedle is the midle most of the times( well it is a little bit more than the midle of the gauge) and when i acelerate the nedle goes up up to 3/4 mark and as soon as the engine switchs gears it goes down to the midle again, i just wanna make sure that is normal.
thanks

Just finished measuring how much oil drained out at my last change and it was 6 qrts 20 oz or 12 oz shy of 7 qrts. So take that for whatever it's worth. I guess having 7 qrts in the engine seems feasible if you consider that up to 12 ounces could be accounted for with oil degradation, absorption, and retention.

I just changed my oil Thursday and added 6 1/2 quarts of Mobil 1 0W 30. Looks good to me. My manual said 6 1/2 not 7.

I will be sending my first oil sample to Blackstone Labs to see how it looks. I will run the Mobil 1 for 3,000 - 3,500 miles and then have that read since the sample I am sending now is not syn oil.

I can't wait to see how this Mobil 1 performs in the Titan.
