Hello all,
I just a bought a Titan last week and love it. Took it to N.M. for the weekend and was impressed with the mileage and performance of this truck. Just one slight curiousity. The past two mornings when I've cold started the truck and driven off it has a surge that lasts for a about 15-20 sec. After that it runs fine. I wonder if it is a TPS issue?? Any input on this would be much appreciated. I have had this truck about ten days and have about 1300 miles on it so a trip back to the dealer is not what I am looking to do.
Regards,
Sam

What exactly do you mean by surge. Is the truck ideling high. Do you have any mods to your truck. New intake or exhaust. I know that when I first crank my truck it idles a little higher then levels off. I believe this is just normal though. Unless your truck is like lunging forward which I dont think you mean. I would just let it break in and give a couple of days. Keep us posted if it changes. These are first year model trucks so things can happen. Don't let it go if you think its something bad. Thats why we buy new vehicle so we don't have to worry bout problems. If you have any worries take it to your dealer and ask them or just give them a call.

Surging

By surge I mean that the engine surges between 1k and 1.5k rpm when it was/is cold started and driven. This is beyond the normal high idle rpm when the engine is first started and left to idle. The truck lurches when in gear, but as soon as it warms(approx 30 sec under power) the condition disappears. My truck is bone stock...which leaves me to wonder if perhaps I got some bad gasoline somewhere along the line. My motorcycles are very partial to certian brands of gasoline, perhaps the truck is as well?? Otherwise I am at a loss to explain why the truck would behave the way it is. The TPS is my guess, but one would think that if something was going wrong with the computer, sensors, etc that event would set a code and trigger a check engine light. In spite of all this I love the Titan and all that torque.
