Here you go..

If your manual shift button stops working you may want to look into this..

To inspect your column shift Titan for wire damage/wear….

3 Screws..

Bottom right side.

Bottom left side.

Screw under top left tab remove.

Then just pop the bottom down and the top up.. You will have to adjust the tilt on the steering wheel to get the shrouds off but it is quite easy..

Here is the harness you want to inspect. The black wire is the usual suspect when your “manual shift” stops working..

The infamous black wire sheath.. Notice the wear mark on it?!

I have minimal wear on this loom but I plan on wrapping it in plenty of electical tape to prevent further degredation..

After removing the plastic sheeth look for the only black wire going into the harness... Yours sounds close to being broke. You can either splice it, Let the dealer do it, or buy a whole new shifter ($400) I think... Lemme know if you need more pics. Seems some Titans that were built the dudes did not leave enough slack in this wire harness..

Not an easy job.. Even if you are good at soldering. I suggest let the dealer fix it. But hopefully anyone out of warrantee will find this info usefull.

That is some great info. I know of two posts that had this problem. The photos show that yours would need attention also. So that would make three. Is there any procedure causing this wear? Has it been found to be from raising and lowering tilt allot or dose that have any effect on stretching the loom or harness? Just wondering if leaving the wheel all the way down stretches the harness? I read that just placing the shifter in park stretches it to the max, but is the position of the wheel also a contributing factor? Thanks for the great post and any response! JDK about the causes?

krh2: You were right on the button with your advice and mucho thanks for the images...they made my day. I went in and simply pulled the harness so I would have some working room then removed the pin with the cut wire with a forceps. Then I opened up the pin with a knife and inserted a new black piece of telephone wire into it then replaced in the harness. I wound that piece of wire into the packaged wire above, taped it, tested and the dang thing worked just perfectly. Thanks to you and the internet this saved me a pile of money. It took a little over and hour to do. The manual down shifter is working perfectly now!

Column shifter cable broke

Thanks for the pics. I want to change my Tranny
Fluid and wanted to go to 1-4 gears, pushed the
Button and nothing. Just got Headers and UpRev
And I'm tired of hitting ODrive at 40 Mph. So I want
To be able to drive in 4th around town, not gonna
Happen with that Black wire cut in Two. Very poor
Design by Nissan. Every time you change gears
You clip that wire. Crazy and it's the ground wire
From what I read. So I have a 2008 with 132K.
No warranty, just like the cracked manifold. Guess
It's time to solder it back in, or try. It's tight..
