First I'll ask the question that I really need answered. I need a transmission since mine is aparrently done. I have a 2004 King Cab SE rear wheel drive. I was told I would need a rebuild ($4200 from independent shop) or buy a whole new one ($4500 from Nissan). I'm not willing to pay nearly half the truck is worth for either.

I found another Titan tranny from an '05 Titan 4x2 for $600. Can I directly swap the two or were there any differences in the 2 years. I know there is something like a CRV tranny that was made, but don't know if the one out of the 2005 is or not. Mine is just a regular tranny...not the CRV or whatever it's called. I'm just trying to get this fixed so I can trade this in. ALl help greatly appreciated!

what he said. CVT stands for continuously variable trans....they put them in hybrids and small cars mainly, but have upgraded lately to larger sedans and crossovers. they dont shift in the sense that an A/T does, but more by ratio configurations using belts.

i think the only difference in titan trans are the 08-09 and 2010s. they changed the mapping and programing in those yrs. 04-07 i believe are the same but should probably go to a specialist for that ?.

I know this hasn't been asked but how did your old transmission die? How did the fluid look? What kind of driving do you do? race, hwy, tow, drift, etc...

Also, how many miles do you have on it?

I only ask these questions because if there is an outside force destroying the transmission, a replacement will just die quickly after install.
