I just got done giving the Grey Beast her first wax job. When I got to the bumpers and mirrors, I noticed I seem to be taking something, an oil film maybe, off with the wax. After buffing, my chrome was all streaked, and I had to redo it making sure I got it all (what ever it is) off. My chrome is now at least twice as bright as it was before. Anybody else notice this, or know what is going on here?

Same happened here. Looks like some protective coating they put on at the factory or something. Probably protects it well, but it actually dulls it. They look great after you do your own polishing though!

I believe Nissan uses Rapgard which is the stick on white film you see on vehicles coming off the delivery truck. And I wouldn't be surprised if they used a spray on film similiar to kosmoline on the chrome surfaces. Usually a paint cleaner like meguires will remove this stuff before you wax to make it easier.
