 Man, I HATE construction zones. On the way home yesterday, a rock flew up and hit my windshield (lower right corner, under wiper blade). Anyway, I got home and only saw a little crack...couldn't feel a chip so I'd figure it'll be fine...............boy, was I WRONG!!!

Went out this morning, headed to work and noticed the little crack has got much larger 8O at least 18"!! It curves up and in toward the center!

Gotta call the insurance agent now! That SUCKS!

If it was a state highway construction job you might be able to get the state highway departemnt to pay for the damage. My brother had a large rock take out his headlight when passing through a highway construction zone here in California. He called Caltrans and after they verified that construction was going on where and when he reported the incident, they agreed to reimburse him for the repairs.

Don't know about your state but where I live there is no cost on broken windshields. The insurance companies take care of it. They are easy to get replaced here.

Well, no luck here with my Insurance. Deductable is $500 8O . However, the good thing is, I called my dealership for a price quote on the windshield.....only $250 8) . Not too bad!

Hey Caltitan, It was actually just before the construction zone here on I-30....so no luck with getting some reimbersment from AHTD either ....thanks anyway!

crash

wow I didnt know that. I got A crack in my windshield not to long ago on A California highway. I was going through A constuction zone and A cal trans truck though A rock at my windshield and put A big crack in it. I thought I was just s.o.l .
I've got to give caltrans A call. I'm glad it was not my nissan titan that it happened to. It was my little beater car that I take back and forth to work. But none the less I dont enjoy looking at that big ol fish eye crack in my windshield. I was glad the windshield was there or else I might be looking funnier than I already do with an extra lump on my head

If you contact a auto glass specialty store, tell them you have no glass breakage insurance, they will give you a much better price. I had one replaced in my 2000 Pathfinder for $50.00!
