I am hearing a noise from the engine mainly from the outside when the truck is cold. It's a clatter like valve springs or something. It eventually goes away once the truck warms up.

I have 9400 miles, and run Amsoil 5w30. It didn't do this before the Amsoil 5w30. Not sure what the dealer had in it before. I have 3400 miles so far on this oil.

Anyone have recommendations? I am pretty sure the truck is fine, its probably the weight of the oil causing it.

The engine oil level is also normal.

You already addressed all the things I would have recommended. Sorry, can't offer anything else.

I have noticed the same valve clatter when using 87 octane fuel. It did go away when I switched to 89. I get the noise all the time when I kick it into passing gear until I switched fuels.

He is probably right. Notice the number of posts from Indianapacers: 7.

Most likely, reviewing older posts to learn about the Titan and didn't notice the original's thread date.
