Due to peer pressure, I got on the ball and installed my "fairly won" carbotech brake pads today. It took all of one hour to do, 10 minutes to change the pads and 50 minutes to clean the wheels inside and out. It was very straight forward and very easy to do. I have pictures and instructions on my pixagogo link at the bottom. There were too many pics to attach to this message so just click on the pixagogo link at the bottom, then click on "Nissan Titan Crew Cab 4x4". There you'll see all the pics and instructions on how to change your pads whether you use carbotechs or factory.

I will run them for several weeks and report back on they are doing!!

How much for the pads man? How is the braking on the truck now? Where did you get them?

The pads are $90 for the front set. Our initial testing has shown a 10' decrease in stopping distance from 60 mph. I also have the stainless/Kevlar lines @ $160/set, and $20/qt for synthetic brake fluid as well. The full writeup should be in www.NissanPerformanceMag.com next month.

50 mile update

Well the first 50 miles were very nice with the carbotech pads. Still zero brake dust on the fronts with some starting to show already on the rears. Braking is exceptional so far, I didn't get a chance to get them too hot but slowing down from highway speeds was noticeably quicker. They don't squeel or make any noise so far....BIG PLUS!!

The only draw back I see so far is carbotech doesn't have any for the rear....Get on them Greg!!!

Truthfully, we're still testing them. If they add to the improvement, count on them being produced. If they only help with dusting and don't make a difference, then that's a tougher decision. I'm glad you like the fronts. PLease pass the word, I need to get these moving so I can continue these projects! :D

Is it possible to arrange for a group price if we can get enough club members together?

I'm open to that. They are specially priced @ $90 right now. We might be able to do a little better...
Thanks Greg. Sent you a PM about this and after I hear from you I'll start a new thread and see who is interested.

Greg, maybe you could consider sending me some of the rears and I'll do some real world testing on them. Even if all they do is cut down on the brake dust I've got a feeling they will still be a big hit. Please make them!!!

I appreciate that. But when the pads are prototyped they are hand made. We already have the set in testing, and he has my test equipment. Hopefully the testing will be wrapped up for next month's NissanPerformanceMag.com's December issue.

Hi Cal, that's an excellent article and spot on with the comments. I've got 1300 miles on the carbotechs at this time and positively love them. Here's a quick story just to show you what they are capable of.

Thanksgiving evening my wife and I had just settled into a cabin in the North GA mountains for the weekend. I needed to make a quick run to the store to get a few items we had forgotten. Right after I pulled out of the store parking lot, heading back to the cabin, a mid 90's 300zx decides he wants to play, and play hard we did the whole 12 miles back to the entrance of the cabin. At about 105mph I see the sign for the turnoff to the dirt rd. the cabin is off from, so I jammed the brake pedal to the floor just to see how the carbos would do. The ABS was pumping like crazy but I was able to come to a complete stop with zero fade or smoke with my eyeballs barely in their sockets...

After giving that 300zx a major run for his money, of which I was able to gain on him going uphills!!!, I pulled off the highway, threw her in 4 wheel drive, and crept back up to the cabin. Now that's versatility folks....

Back to the carbos......No rotor warpage, no matter how hot I get them and nice sure footed stopping. Dust only appears after it rains and it's more dirt than dust. What more can I say?? They are AWESOME!!!

I dont have problem with dust on the back just the front. your front breaks do 80% of the stopping with your back only being used to slow you down a little, especially when you slam on your breaks al the weight transfers to the front. back would only be good for cutting down dust, but its nice to do them all around.
