Step by Step on how to do the mod so you can program your factory nav unit while driving. It is pretty easy to do. I installed the switch in my glove box so it is out of sight and will not get bumped by accident. I did this on my 2009 Titan Crew Cab LE. The wiring harnesses are different than previous years but it is the same wire you have to cut (white with red stripe). If you follow this step by step you will not have any problems. I bought all supplies at HD for under $20.

What you will need: 1 Single Pull Single Throw (SPST) toggle switch, 4 wire crimps or nuts (crimps are neater and take up less room), 2- approx 7' lengths of wire (or speaker wire will probably also work) I used 16 gauge, philips head screwdriver, wire crimper and cutter, zip ties & exacto knife

Step 1: Move passengers seat all the way forward to access protective cover for the Nav DVD Player.

Step 2 & 3: Remove both screws in the cover and remove protective cover. Slides up and off.

Step 4: Rear view of Nav DVD player. Locate wiring harness on the right, of the big unit.

Step 5: with thumb push down tab in the middle of the harness on the right and pull back, be gentle but comes out with ease.

Step 6: Once out locate the White and Red Stripe wire.

Step 7: Cut wire, leave approx 3-4 inches or enough so you have wire to work with to strip and crimp

Step 8: I used 16 gauge wire I bought from HD but and wire will work. Crimp the wire coming out of the harness (White/Red Stripe) with the wire you are going to use to run to the toggle switch. I cut the wire to run to the toggle switch approx 7'.

Step 9: Crimp the other end of the White/Red Stripe of the wire to the other 7' wire you will run to the toggle switch.

Step 10: Pull wires to the left behind the bracket the protective cover screws into and then reinstall the protective cover.

Step 11: Feed the 2 wires under the center console to the front of the truck. Some remove the center console but I did not have to. If you are not going to install the toggle switch into the glove compartment you may want to remove the whole console.

Step 12: Remove plastic cover all the way at the front of the center console on the passenger side in the foot well. It is just held in with clips, pull out carefully with some force and will come out. May be easier to remove glove compartment first although I did not.

Step 13: Pull wires through where you just removed the plastic.

Step 14: Run wires from console to underneath glove compartment area and through the metal bracket

Step 15: Pull wires all the way through and zip tie to the metal bracket and reinstall plastic console piece, it just snaps back into place.

Step 16: Remove glove compartment and drill a 1/2" hole in the rear left part at the bend. The hole should be parallel with the front of the glove compartment.

Step 17: Install the toggle switch in the hole.

Step 18:

Step 18: Notch out a section on the dash where the glove box closes into so you have clearence for the rear of the switch. I used an exacto knife with a sharp blade and it cut right through the plastic, left the plastic very neat and clean looking.

Step 19: View of wires running and the toggle switch installed.

Step 20: If you have extra wire run along metal bracket and zip tie what you will not need if you do not want to cut, but make sure there is enough slack for the glove compartment to open once the wires are attached to the toggle switch. Then crimp the 2 wires to the wires running out of the toggle switch.

Step 21: Reinstall glove compartment and enjoy.

When you say program while driving, our new 2011 Muranos nav can be used while driving and has no start up screen where you have to hit AGREE like some do. Is the Titans different than the Muranos?

They must be, I have to hit Ok on start up and cannot input any thing while driving, it locks out almost everything except you last 5 addresses and 4 that are saved in the address book.

They must have changed things for the 2011 models. This is not the way the nav works on my wife's 2010 Murano. On it you still get the start up screen and have to touch "Agree".
