Looks like there might be a diesel Titan coming

That would be really cool but the premium the manufacturers charge for a diesel equipped truck is too much in my opinion. Anywhere from 4 to 6 grand for a diesel engine damn near negates any savings from buying a diesel. I know there are advantages if it is to be used for heavy duty purposes but for the average consumer that would like to have one for the better fuel mileage, it just isn't practical..

However, the only thing I like about Dodge is the Cummings diesel....Now that's a heck of an engine...Fords (navistar) diesel and GM's homegrown diesel's are nice but nothing compared to the Cummings!!
Yeh I've driven a few cummings Dodge's and they are really nice. Lots of power. Make for a mean pullin machine.

Last fall when I was looking for a fullsize truck that was the only one I was going to consider, but I just couldn't get over the fact that Dodge wanted $5400 for the diesel!!! I think I figured I would have to run it something like 250k miles before the diesel would start to save me any money!!! No way, I need a quicker return than that, so it just wasn't practical for my purposes. There again I wasn't purchasing it to haul anything but my arse...

And Haul Arse it dose. Quite well I might add.

it sure does, I was looking at the high output one with the automatic. 42k for a 4x2....OUCH!!!
Needless to say thats way outa my price range. The Titan was stretching it a bit already. Since I was slightly upside down on my last truck.

it was way out of my price range too..That's just too much for a truck...of course in my humble opinion.
I am wondering what International Corp. is going to throw into the mix. I know what they are building for the military and there are preliminary plans to go commercial. I anticipate a diesel configuration.
John
I don't think we'll see any mass market light line vehicles from International. They are currently working on a few different vehicles for the military, and a couple niche market light vehicles. These are for the people that buy an F-450 or bigger for a work truck, or to haul thier boat to the lake. I'd love to buy one of thier new CXTs, but I think its hard to justify 90 grand when my Titan does a decent job of pulling my trailer, and it's a much better daily driver.
Nate, I can tell you with extreme confidence that they are "considering" versions to the half ton level. Will it come to be? I don't know. Sure would be nice to have another player in the market.
John
I know that they are considering it, and I'd love to have another International sitting in my garage. I just don't see it happening, I guess I'm just a glass is half empty kinda guy. If they ever came out with the "Scout III" they had 3 prototypes for back in 1980, I'd probably sell my Titan in a heartbeat. That truck was way ahead of its time.
ok, I don't think I'd sell my Titan, I'd get rid of the wife's car first
I believe International builds some good stuff. Oh, wait a minute, there was that time a couple of months ago when my dad's powerstroke left me stranded. Bad 6.0. Just kidding...that horse is a pulling son of a gun. The reason I brought up International is that I have been doing alot of work with them the last 6 months and have been privy to some discussions...that's all. I rode in their beefed up, jacked up, bad boy in July. Man, what a ride.
Oh, as for getting rid of the wife's car...it would be like pulling teeth for me. I'd hate for her to have to choose between me and her diesel bug.
