Has anyone heard of placing magnets on the fuel line? I friend just told me that there is a "kit" that sells the magnets that fit over the fuel line, before the injectors, that separates the fuel particles to create better combustion, which also helps fuel economy. Any comments or ideas about this would be appreciated.

But some say, Magnets help Blood Circulation?
Why not Fuel? :future:
If that's the case, perhaps I need someone to make me a magnet helmet. :bubble:

I got talked into trying these about 8 years ago. Guaranteed or my money back. I put them on a Toyota Cresida and after 3 months got my money back.
Others will swear by them but I couldn’t see any difference. Maybe I should have saved them as a Viagra substitute.

Hey Guys (& Gals),
I can actually help you for once, in stead of just readin' and learning from all of you...I have been involved with Chemistry for over 20 some years in the electric generation business (Palo Verde Nuclear Plant), and I can explain what DOES NOT happen with the magnets on the fuel line. Briefly put, magnetism is involved with what is known as polar covalency...positive is attracted to negative. When a positive ion comes in the vicinity of a negative ion, they will attract and latch on to one another to form a compound or salt. This is the entire basis for inorganic chemistry (acids & salts). The problem is, gasoline is made up of organic material (hydrocarbons), and are absolutely non polar covalent due to carbon bonding. There are no ions (or charged particles), only organic chains of hydrocarbons...so, there is absolutely no technical way for a magnet to do anything to the gas but look funky in your engine compartment.

However, there IS one way that it will work....when you strap one on, you say to your self, I am gonna see if this thing really works, and you drive off. You notice a tad bit better mileage, so you test it for another tank, and low and behold, you try to see if you can get better the next tank. Your stops become slower, takeoffs are more moderate and sure enough, you done bought the fried ice cream and now you're driving like someone from Sun City, Arizona (retirement community) and your new driving habits actually have improved your gas mileage. And before you know it, you are swearin' that that little device gained you 6 or 8 miles to the gal. Sorry, not me...I want to hear some rumble when I take off and I like to see people get small behind me....ha.

Hope this did not bore you all with the chemistry stuff, but there is absolutely no technical merit in a magnet on a gas line. Please guys, do not waste your money or time....
