Nissan Titan Aftermarket Radio Install?

28141 Views 15 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  dram56
Has anyone installed an aftermarket radio yet? You can buy the base radio plate from Nissan parts and Metra has a kit for the base model. I just don't have the funds to spend over a hundred dollars to ty it yet. I'm no so sure it will work with my 6 disk changer, and I would have to cut holes for 2 or 3 of my options that the base does not have. I have only seen custom fiberglass dash jobs that have an aftermarket stereo in them so far online. Anybody?

What kind of changer do you have. You can usually find a head unit that will operate the changer. That is not the hard part. The hard part sounds like you will have to alter the replacement radio dash. That could get messy. I will soon be adding a LCD screen to my dash in the stock double din opening. I already have the dash that I need because I did not get the RF radio. I think there is a guy on ebay selling dash kits for the Titan. I will check it out and let you know.

I have the in dash cd changer option. It isn't the RF one, just the base. It does have the full face plate with all the buttons molded individually into the panel. If I understand right the regular cd player on the base model has a regular din or din and a half opening. This is the panel I need to get from Nissan parts. The mounting kit is out by Metra, but I have yet to see a wiring harness. And since the kit by Metra is for the base cd player only, I wonder if the wiring harness would even be the same for mine? The back of mine has 5 plugs going to the back of the unit. How many plugs do you have?

I will make this really easy for ya. Go to www.crutchfield.com When you buy a new head unit from them you get everything. The mounting kit and the harness. Plus they give you directions on how to install. If you have problems they will help you over the phone. Also if you happen to have the steering wheel controls you can use this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-TLzgfO...c=01&i=127SWIX&g=118900&search=Steering+Wheel
to make your controls work on aftermarket radio.
Yeh you may pay a couple bucks more than you would local for a new cd player/radio but you get the other stuff free. I don't know when the last time you bought this kinda thing at Best Buy or Circuit City was but they will get like 20 for a harness and 15 to 25 for the mounting kit. You will come out good in the end to go with crutchfield. Oh yeh just in case you need that dash get it here http://www.nissanparts247.com/en_US/ call and ask for Jamie he will hook you up.
There is actually 4 different options, and all fit both CC and KC.
1. For XE+SE P#68260-7S000
2. For XE+SE with AM/FM in-dash 6-disc cd changer. P#68260-7S100
3. For LE(all)+SE with Cassette. P#62860-7S200
4. For LE with Fosgate 6cd/Nav/trip comp/tire pressure. P#68260-7S300

Good stuff Josh, I am impressed!
Thanks for your help. I had been to Crutchfield and it says you will have to fabricate your own custom kit to mount the cd player into place. They don't have a kit for the Titan yet either. I am going to go ahead and get the base panel from parts and try the new metra kit. I have contacted my local custom stereo store and they are going to find out about all of the wiring for me. I think some of the plugs might be for the air conditioner controls ect. I will post my results when I get it completed.
Go getem SmokedTitan, I'm sure you will get it!
Im at work right now but the metra kit is out for the titan with the double din slot. I know because I saved it in my favorites at home. I will go home tonight and get you the part number.

Well, I have the parts on order. Nobody makes a wiring harness yet, so I'll just have to figure out which wire is what and do it myself. I have already ran down the speaker wires, so I am half way there. I will take some pics and maybe do a tutorial on how to wire it up when I get it finished. Wish me luck. I hope nothing gets fried before this is over. lol
I have it installed

I have the CD player in. It was a beast to wire up without a harness, but well worth it. I'm a big MP3 man so the factory just wasn't for me. If anyone is thinking of upgrading to the factory cd changer I might have one for sale now. If anyone else wants to put in an aftermarket radio I can give them a wiring diagram now and it should go pretty smooth.

Yeah, good job. Looks good!
Where did you get your dash kit? I have been itching to get my alpine head unit installed so I can listen to my mp3s again.

Give this link a shot and see if you can get it through them.
UGh damn you Nissan! how much was it for the dash panel ?? Thus far the way they have the stereo set up in the titan is my biggest tiff with the titan... Such a pain in the ars to install my deck .. Just curious as to waht the part cost thanka
Just in case anybody is looking for an easy one-stop solution for adding an aftermarkey stereo to a 2004 - 2005 Titan. Here are some links to Crutchfield.

Dash Bezel and mounting kit from Scosche:

Wiring Harness (for Base or 6 disk non RF OEM hookup)

All CD Recievers that fit (from Crutchfield) there are actually a lot more. But here is a start.

To enable your Factory Steering wheel controls to work with your after-market stereo.

Good source for DynaMat (Bulk Extreme $$159 - Door Kit $55)
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=12655

I bought my Pioneer "Premier" DEH-P770MP Deck for $269.95 at my local Car Toys store so I would get the real Pioneer 2 yr warranty. Crutchfield does offer the real Pioneer warranty on the stuff they sell, but they do not carry the Premier line.

Crutchfield is not the cheapest place, but very reliable and if, (like was stated before) you buy your deck from them, they give you the harness and DIN mount. The Bezel is still $40 extra. They also have free assistance.

Hope this helps...

Dave
