Tranny Fluid

What kind of schedule is everyone using for thier Tranny fluid. I haven't decided how often I am going to change mine yet, but I'm going to go ahead do my first at about 8000 miles. It's probably not needed, but she's going to be at the dealer getting the new radio put in(finally), and I'm going to turn one of my free oil changes(I won't let them change the oil) into a tranny service.

I wouldn't get my hopes up about trading in an oil change coupon for a tranny fluid change. The tranny fluid that is required costs about $13 a quart.

Several months ago the dealer I use quoted me $80 in labor plus however much fluid the tranny took. I decided to do the fluid change myself but there's a ton more information I need to pass along to you about it. Let me know if your still interested in tackling this project and I'll elaborate more later. I have a window tinting appt. to go to right now so I'm off.

Go to my pic link and select the Titan LE pictures, you'll see several pics I took while changing the fluid.
I took her in this morning to get the replacement radio installed. I went ahead and had them do the fluid change, charged me 50 bucks for it. Considering the fluid is 9 bucks a quart at the parts counter, I don't think thats too bad. I will be doing it myself in the future, unless the truck is in for something else anyway. I am still curious about the information you had to pass on if you are willing to share it :)
Nate, did they do the complete FLUSH for $50.00, or just drain the pan and replace? I hope they did the flush, including the converter fluid, or you basicly got half a job done! If they did the entire flush for that amount, you got a GREAT deal.
They said they did the flush. I think they actually cut me a deal on the labor since it was in for warranty work anyway. As much as a hate dealing with dealerships, mine actually seems to care if I walk out of there happy or not. We'll see if they keep it up.
that's got to be the best price I've ever heard for a tranny flush Nate. When I drained mine at 20K miles on my last truck it looked perfect, no discoloration or burnt smell to it at all. I decided that on my current truck I'll drain and refill it every 10k Miles because I'm not going in for the flush. The fluid is expensive but I know on my last truck it held up great, even with the way I drove it which was VERY HARD!!

Just curious....did you wreck you last truck or just decided to get a 4x4??????
luckily no, I did want a 4x4 but I also wanted to get a cheaper truck to lower the payments. Where I work we are going to be taking deep pay cuts, so I got something that would fit into our budget after that happens.
