Thinking of getting my windows tinted to match the rear. How much money are you guys paying for this?

If I remember correctly it was 113 for all my windows except the front. I got them the darkest I could talk them into.

I have called and got quotes from 50 to 65 bux for the front glass. All the shops say that the 15% matches the back glass. I have also found out that after calling every tint shop in a 70 mile radius(three major cities), not a one has never heard of replacing the inner window channel rubber with felt as discussed in another thread. One shop I talked to said they have been tinting for the local nissan dealership for years and had no problems whatsoever and offers a lifetime warranty on their work and the materials.

Funny you mention window tinting, I just got mine done last night for $60. I got the 15% and it matches pretty well. If you live in Florida you need tinting or your interior will go to crap.

I got the high quality film, lifetime warranty for scratching and fading, for about $70.00 (20%, max allowed in Texas, matches well). My installer said nothing about replacing the rubber with felt, and I haven't had any problems.

Every shop I contacted used Lumar brand tint and they all carried lifetime warranty on the tint. Tint will indeed protect the interior from uv damage and make the inside easier to cool. And also remember that the uv protection isnt any better with the darker shade of the film, it just adds privacy 8) Here is the link for our discussion on the felts http://www.clubtitan.org/postt257.html

I recently had a Lumar 20% film added to the front windows. It's almost a perfect match. It's darker than allowing in TN (35% on front windows) but too close to call in most cases.

I very happy with the results. Cost around $50.

I could not find a shop that would apply the 20% because of the law. I even told them they could forgo the warranty and receipt, but still no dice. I had to settle for 35% for $55.00. It's not as dark as I would have liked, but it definitely adds to the looks of the truck compared to no tint at all.

Not surprised they wouldn't do it. Some states have laws that allow them to fine businesses that do illegal mods to street vehicles.

That is exactly what these guys said. They said they faced a hefty fine if they were caught. They even gave me a certificate showing the percentage of the tint for yearly state inspections, and in case I get questioned by the police. Talk about CYA!!!!

Some shops are like that here, but most are not. As long as they dont put the % on the reciept, it covers them legally. Seems like the exaust shops here are more scared of mofifying than the tint shops. We go undercover sometimes and do stings on general repair shops, but thats only if we get alot of complaints on price gouging, etc. Here they ticket the driver on tint and exaust, they dont worry to much about the shops that do it.
